@KapernicusI A British line musket had an effective range of 100 metres, skirmishing troops were typically armed with the french design skirmishing rifles, those had a range of 120 metres or more. Considering this is set in 1818 there will be newer models also of the standard line musket capable of firing up to and over 120.

It's better to buy the DVD Series ever if it cost more money. Because, later you can watch the series at your own time without missing other episodes. This last one has some episodes missing. I'm on vacation which made it fun to watch for three straight days.

This is after the Napoleon's conquest, so quite alot of a French and Russian soldiers wondering without work. And the British empire is stretched quite afar at the time, so they are recuited for security details. Like what US is doing with Black Water in Iraq.
