  • he just built a 28-Thousand square foot house, there must have been loads of mill workers working around the clock getting the wood ready for his mansion, he never seems to talk about that though.. interesting

  • He was talking about textile mills, not "wood mills", like your head

And the house is 9,000 sq. feet . The inside heated square footage is around 7700. You counted the Barns and all of the out buildings to get the 28,000 number..Way to go. Next time, do some research or just go there and see.

  • Edwards/Kucinich '08

  • "Vote for me because I worked in a mill!!"

What an ambulance chasing asshole. I hope you have a good hearty meal tonight using the money that you stole from doctors you POS.

  • WTF are you talking about? You vote for him because he is for working men and women of the middle class. If you couldnt see that in his statment then you are the asswhole. Who do you support ion this race Rudy yea because he isnt the ambulance chaser. Get informned and stop pulling bullshit out your ass!!!

Looking forward to 1/20/09 GO EDWARDS!!!!

  • You know what they say about assuming, it makes an ASS out of YOU. I wouldn't tell a rich boy doting prick like you who I'm for in a million years. FYI, you should work on your spelling. This isn't English class, but try to avoid making yourself look like a retard, which I know will be hard since you're an Edwards supporter.

I'll be waiting for your golden boy Edwards to drop out dipshit.

  • First off i have worked everyday of my life and am far from rich. Where the hell did you get that idea? Your the dumbass who waits until its all said and done and then says i supported him from the get go. Why is that? Is it because your afraid to stand up and fight for what you believe? Edwards stands up for the middle class and anyone who doesnt think that is a fucking jackass. That must make you the leader of the ignorant prick dumbasses who voted for president bush huh?

  • Did you even read my comment? Or did you just hit 'reply' and go crazy? I never called you rich, and quit assuming. It makes you look like a dumbass. FYI, your boy Edwards stole money from doctors. How, exactly, is that "standing up for the middle class"?

Oh, and good job on the spelling. You must have stayed up all night typing that. Now you need to work on your grammar. ;)

  • How did he take money from doctors?? He is supporting universal health care you jackass. Your the only dumbass in this conversation because you have some sort of idea that he has taken money from doctors. Who told you that George Bush??

Looking forward to 1/20/09 Go Edwards!!!

  • He was an ambulance chasing trial lawyer who put good doctors out of business with junk science and blatant lies. Apparently there are many things about your golden boy you don't know.

It doesn't matter anyway. He dropped out. You lost.

  • I know alot about that golden boy. I know the fact that he stood for working men and women everywhere, that he tried to get a bill passed for universal health coverage for all children, he stood on picket lines day in and day out fighting for the middle class. Thats enough for me he is a golden boy and this country could do some good listening and acting on some of John Edwards ideas. You havnt mentioned who you are supporting? Ohh i know whoever the winner is.

    looking forward to 1/20/09

  • Edwards is the only candidate who opposes expanding NAFTA, which sent so many of our U.S. jobs to other countries. HolyHellPreacher, do you read about the issues of any of the candidates so that you know what they stand for?

  • He's the "Man With The Plan" and the hope of the working people..

    A Union Carpenter's Wife

    Yvonne Vosburgh

    Illinois

  • Edwards founded a poverty center that gave many scholarships, and is trying to save our democracy from corporations. He is the only candidate talking about foreign lobbyists who are influencing bad trade deals for the U.S. and causing more of our jobs to go to other countries.

  • PS: Post some of that debate on your you tube page. America needs to hear it. Not everyone watches these debates.

Post the message and let it be heard!!!

  • Keep speaking out like you did in last nights debate!!!

You need to keep driving home at every opportunity just how much the HC and BO campaign is driven by gender, race, and special interest groups!!!

Keep pounding that home. Did you notice how defensive HC and BO became during the debate everytime you did. Guilt was written all over their faces!!!

  • For the sake of America. It is you who are running. Will you please quit going on about you father. I suppose that is you claim to the common person. Just keep getting your 400 doller hair cuts.

  • In my opinion,of all the candidates,John Edwards, best follows the true message of Dr.King.The contents of a man's character.

  • I too just watched the debate in South Carolina and I agree, John Edwards won!! He talked about what he was going to do. I believe he would be the one to truly change things.

  • I just finished watching the debate (1-21-08) and Senator Edwards clearly won. Barack and Hillary were personally attacking each other, while John Edwards was PRESIDENTIAL, articulate, on topic, and stood for America. He also has the best chance of winning the presidency. Democrats need to wake up to Edwards. This man is what we need.

  • I agree completely. We as Americans need to take heart the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and vote not on the color of a candidate's skin, but on the content of their character.

John Edwards' character is that of a fighter, one who will speak out on behalf of the less fortunate because it is truly personal to him. You won't get that kind of authenticity from any other candidate because only he has lived it. Edwards is the real deal.

  • Oh, and I'm 25, by the way. I just noticed most of the other posters were mentioning their age.

  • I agree that John is "the real deal". The man has been "real" all his life. I really respect his dedication to those less fortunate. He looks, acts, thinks, and talks like a president. If he loses, America loses. Oh.. and I'm 50.

  • Mr. Edwards,

Our Democracy is being hijacked by someone... We need for you to be a man on principal and demand justice. The Nevada primary proved that Hillary's people are resorting to illegal methods of supressing the electoral process. The media is brainwashing people into thinking it's a race of the way candidates appear rather than the real issues. Please Help Us!

  • It's amazing how many people are so ignorant that they can only resort to name calling. Shows the lack of class this country is evolving towards.

  • Suck it, ass-wipe.

  • Who's quote is that? $1,000 to anyone who can provide the answer!

  • im 19 and i strongly support edwards

  • Your message is hopeful and inspiring. These young people don't know enough to be angry, as we baby boomers are. I believe you will make America a better place for us and the young.

  • I'm 26 years old and I support John Edwards! Yes us "Young People" know!

  • Happy to hear it!

  • Edwards is the AONLy candidate not taking money from lobbysists and PACs!!! He's also got the best ebnvironmental plan and is endorsed by Friends of the Earht Action.

  • We need Edwards in 2008.

  • This, coming from a guy that voted to give favored nation trading status to China. If John Edwards cares so much about working people and the middle class, then why doesn't his senate record reflect that?

John Edwards is absolutely worthless. Just ask us in North Carolina.

  • You're finished in presidential politics. You god damn failure.

  • It was very depressing to see John Edwards to finish NV at 4%....

  • Who cares what hookerland thinks?

To be Frank though if Edwards fails in Carolina he needs to call an end to his campaign.

  • GO JOHN GO!

  • We need a candidate that can say this and follow through on it always. That candidate is John Edwards. You say the owner was worth more, that's elitist!

  • John Edwards has my vote. He is the most honest and honorable person to run for President of the United States in the last 100 years. GO EDWARDS!!!

  • I disagree with that message. The man that owned that mill was worth more. If the employees were just a good as the owner, they would have started their own mills or their own businesses. Innovators and owners change the business, not the regular employees. Any employee that found a way to improve safety or productivity is not a regular, they are worth more than that. If one's work doesn't like change, innovation, or improvement, then it's time to find a place that does.

  • If people would just sit and listen to the man, and not rush to judgement, Romney's command of the issues is superior to any of the other candidates. This guy knows his stuff on a broad range of issues. I think you can't miss with a Romney vote

  • Enough about the mill already!

  • In Dawn's memory $100.00 is being donated.

Others should follow and save america from the alternatives of either the Republican Party, BO, or HC.

  • TODAY January 18th - FRIDAY - is the $7 million dollar grassroots challenge fund raising day!

PLEASE show your support for Edwards' message and tell others TODAY - it's imperative!

johnedwardsDOTcom (take the DOT out and put a period, of course)

  • I just bought a tee-shirt and 5 magnetic bumper stickers. Purchases count as donations.

  • Those who vote in this election based on race or gender, which a lot of votes so far have been based on.

Are going to find the only change after this election, is which butt is sitting in the white house, if anyone other than Edwards is elected!!!

There will be no change if the O or C word are elected.

  • Would sooner a person talking about the mill workers than one who has a staff deciding what he should say to get the most votes, and another who won't say she will change the tax structure of the upper 6%, of which she is a part of, so that the rich don't continue to get richer and the poor keep losing their homes and what they own.

  • In the tumultuous election year of 1968 America lost two great men who had the courage to speak the truth.

Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy

    40 years later . . . the fight continues . . .

    Ron Paul (libertarian)

  • What a self serving load of shit.

  • Okay, to be fair:

In the tumultuous election year of 1968, one American teenager had the courage to work in a mill.

His name was Johnny Reid "John" Edwards.

    40 years later . . . the fight continues . . .

    John Edwards (Democrat)

(By the way, I like J.E. But my first choice is the libertarian.)

  • Libertarians are pro-states rights aren't they?

  • "States rights", like the words "liberal" and "conservative" have been so dumbed down in recent years that they are essentially meaningless words. These days, I guess "conservative" would mean huge deficit spending and bigger government - the exact opposite of how a "conservative" would want to define it based on a bygone era. So the short answer is yes, a lot of libertarians would be "states rights" philosophically, but not into the misguided segregation nonsense that is often cited.

  • Is that a yes or no?

  • Philosophically and generally speaking "YES" - But look it up (!) and you will clearly see that some are and some aren't. This is a perfect example of what's wrong with our country. People CHOOSE to dumb things down into one word Yes/No answers, soundbites, etc., only so they can use it to distort or discredit someone's real views. And what we end up with is George W. Bush. Wake up! Its okay to think for yourself . . . and read my previous statement again if that helps.

  • I am a Hillary fan, but I kind of like Edwards. However, he is WAAAAAY overdoing it with the mill thing, even if it is true. At the debate last night, I rarely heard him get through a question without "Mah fawther worked in the meel", or something like it. He should still refer to it, but as of now he is basically just screaming "MILL! MILL! MILL! MY FATHER WORKED IN THE MILL, SO I'M THE MOST QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT!!!"

  • If you had seen the Bill Mahr show, this past week, you would have seen Matt Tiabi (Rolling Stone Mag. journalist ~ tis a sick world when that is one of the most truthful news outlets) spoke about how Edwards is the only candidate the connects with people. Most journalists are inclined to commit suicide whilst listening to the other candidates.

Besides wasn't Hillary National President of the Young Republicans during the '60s. And she has the nerve to be discussing Martin Luther King!

  • Matt Tiabi is a damn good writer.

  • You'll find the only person talking about who, what, when, and how is Edwards.

HC "I'm running on 35 years of change." Why hasn't anything changed in those 35 years, and why is the country as screwed up as it is today with all your change?

BO "*$^)#(%($)" (that stands for all he says without saying anything) He talks as the wind blows. Other than letting us know he's black and making race an issue every chance he gets. I hear nothing but noise when he talks.

  • Meaningful Change - John Edwards '08

  • So, why does John Edward support globalist Council on Foreign Relations?

  • With all the words in the english language, this is all the better you can come up with? Clean it up!

  • It really dont mader who becomes president because just like bush every 1 will do what ever the fuck they want as soon as they win. Look at Bush he caimed to be with God and for Israel but he's all for giving the Jewish peoples land away TO TERRORISTS. So what does that tell ya?

  • And of course John Edwards asswipes are gonna disagree with me or anybody else thats not wiping his ass. Even if that that I said was rong in your eyes its my opinion. And it might be rong. Yours might be rong. To tell you the truth. There aint really noone good runing.

    MY OPINION

  • Another Retardican with no honest point to make.

That's an absolute and complete lie. Edwards has even promtoted the idea of hunters bill of rights. He wants to restore the rights of americans.

  • bpl72: There is a video here on YouTube where Edwards says that having a gun is a "privilege" and not a "right". Hello...did he Edwards not realize there was a 2nd Amendment?? Don't believe me, listen for yourself: /watch?v=aea8e3OzddM

  • Animaitonbase, go back to smoking dope and playing video games this election will be over before you wake up.

  • @Animationbase

I like Ron Paul but you're a fucktard

  • Why thank you =D

  • As opposed to who? He's the most genuine candidate in this race.

  • Angelic, except for the fact that he's a racist.

  • Based on what?

  • This is a great ad for John Edwards.

    I support him for President.

  • ditto

  • ditto ditto

  • ditto also

  • I agree. Edwards is the candidate with the ideas and plans. Seems like Clinton and Obama are having trouble coming up with original plans. Obama is not even close to being progressive, especially on domestic policy.

  • Republican and Democratic Parties' Congressional "long Train of Abuses and Usurpations." It is time to wake up, America, and remove the political blinders that you mistakenly believe drive you to vote strictly for your party. Your party no longer exists for your benefit. The Parties exist solely for the survival and advancement of their organizations and their hold on control of our government.

  • I'm a Ron Paul supporter but between Edwards, Obama, and Hillary..... I would choose Edwards.

  • I respect your opinion FreedomofSpeech911. I am an Edwards supporter, but between the GOP candidates I think Paul is the only one that has class.

  • This message is important. By explaining about his life growing up as the son of a mill worker, he's letting us know he "gets it." His plans to fight for working class Americans are well-detailed on his website.

  • obama edwards 08

  • Gore and Edwards , this should be the ticket

  • subliminal message put in at second 25

  • you're paranoid. I stopped it and there's only a brown pole sticking up. The video just got screwed up.

  • I saw it but what is it?

  • That's better then Bush making a fortune starting wars that have killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

  • Good question. Maybe John Edwards should be specific about what he means from time to time.

  • If you are a progressive and would like to elect one then we must do everything we can to stop the deluge of media sponsored Hillary support and help Sen. Edwards win the nomination. John can win the national race. Let's get to work!

  • MILLS MILLS MILLS MILLS MILLS

  • 9/11 9/11 terror terror 9/11 9/11 terror terror 9/11 91// terror terror 9/11 9/11 terror terror

  • change, change, change, change, change. change

  • He is a great man and the best candidate I think. I just don't understand why he did so poorly in Iowa and New Hampshire. I hope people wake up before election day. Obama and Hillary are not the answers.

  • He is a great guy but he is not a great leader.

  • That is your opinion. Can't be any worse than what we have now.

  • Ok. If you say so. LOL. I still feel he would be a great leader,in spite of your "observation"

  • I wouldn't say he did "poorly", poorly would be 3% or 9%. He beat Hillary in Iowa, that doesn't END anyone's campaign by coming in 2nd, and he is getting about 20% in national polls between the 3 candidates. The MEDIA does not put him on TV discussion like they do Obama and Hillary.

JOHN EDWARDS message is one of hope and ACCOUNTABILITY for the govt and corporations to answer to the PEOPLE!

  • Well, I'd certainly feel more comfortable with him in office than Hillary or Obama, but he WAS Kerry's running mate, and anyone who'd be willing to align himself with that crapjerk probably can't be trusted.

  • That's not what he needs to be saying in South Carolina.

  • John Edwards for President :-)

  • Two reasons to support Edwards;

    1) He the essence of "change:, a true populist who will fight for the average guy.

    2) He is the MOST electable Democratic candidate.

Let's end the Corpotocracy. Edwards 2008!!

  • He is the New Kid On the block and hes black wow !!! us vote for him he is differnt you may not like that differnt once differnt is your President John Edwards is not George W Bush dont let differnt cloud your judgement!

  • I like this man he is warm Not cold, the American people dont need to vote for change just for change sake its never wise John Edwards has been working for Americans and run for president for many years he has becomeing president in his heart as well as the wellbeing of this nation....US not get excited over the new guy so fast!

  • That's it? He's running because of a mill? Time to expand the message - quick.

  • i think you need help putting two and two together.

  • No, the American people need help putting two and two together. Haven't you noticed or do you think everyone is part of the intelligentsia? I drove to Iowa from Texas, to campaign for him and have given him nearly 2,000. dollars at this point, so don't preach to me.

  • John Edwards is the Democrats' most electable candidate. His message is strong and will appeal to the middle class, once they all get a chance to hear his message.

  • If we voters don't send this man to the White House, we'll have missed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He's a great man.

  • It's a TWICE-IN-A-LIFETIME opportunity. PBS did a research project in 2004 that showed that Edwards would have defeated Bush by "ELEVEN" points, had he been nominated, whereas Kerry could only muster a "TIE" with Bush. Edwards was the most electable then. This time he is the most electable, and he has the best proposals, but Democrats are about to blow it again.

  • You're right! Let's hope enough of us wake up and vote for our best champion this time. We don't just need change--we need a better future!

EDWARDS '08 for a better future!

  • I undertand the 'repetiveness' of stump speeches, but personally I think people need to be reiminded daily of things like the man who had to wait 50 years to speak because he didn't have health insurance or the young girl who died while waiting for approval by 'corporate controled' health insurance.

  • Clinton and Obama would both be very good as our President, but John Edwards would be better. Edwards reminds me of the late Paul Wellstone: A really good man to his core.

Plus, as a bonus, Edwards is our strongest candidate against the Republicans.

  • I second that. From a Dem who's been taking on this conservatives at the heart of the battle for a long time now.

Wellstone would have fought with Edwards. I know that in my heart.

  • Let me say first that I support Edwards for President. Now, my point is that this ad is the distilled essence of John Edwards. He has hit at something very fundamental, which is that the wealthy people who support the right wing feel that they are an entirely higher species of humanity than the middle class, working class and poor. That snobbery and class-ism is seldom spoken of, let alone confronted, in America but it is the source of much that is wrong in our country.

  • This is a good message, regardless if us political junkies have heard it over and again. The point is to reach people who don't really care about politics but who want to vote this election cycle for the candidate that will benefit the common folks.

  • excellent point. why? because it is the truth and the point

  • Atheism FTW!:)

  • hey john, you're a good man with a good message. but we need to hear something more than the mill over and over. it's become something of a joke on the blogs. have you seen the ad huckabee is running in michigan? you need to expand your reach while keeping the same principles you've been espousing all along. i wish you the best but you're competition is appealing to a broader base. you need to do well in SC and this ad is not going to help you that much unfortunately.

  • So...so true. I have to admit, I started giggling a little lately everytime Edwards once again said, "My daddy worked in a mill". I was like, "Oohhh....really????"

  • Maybe it is a big part of his campaign? However, he needs to stress this over and over so that the working class can all hear that he wants to improve our lives. I think he ( just like you ) is very heart felt and is not putting us together for a lack of better words. To add, maybe you and I hear it alot becouse we keep up with what he's doing but, all the Obama and Clinton supporters must not have seen this or we would all vote for this man....thanks

  • we all know it's a big part of his campaign. i just don't think it's an effective ad. i actually prefer obama but i have nothing against edwards. i just think his message needs to be revitalized by new methods. SC is very important and he needs to adjust how he conveys his ideas.

  • Thank you for your reply. Just curious, why do you think its not an effective ad and do think that Obama's celeberity(cant spell) status will over come any meaningful ad Edwards could come up with? I say that becouse these things remind me of when I was a kid in high school and poeple would follow the ideas and so forth of the "popular person" verse well you know the smart kids. Does that make any sense? lol... Like Obama got some pretty big Tv people promoting him if you know what I mean.

  • i like what edwards' stands for but he is a flawed candidate, he has a hard time inspiring people the way obama does. the audience for this ad seems small to me. he needs to do something to cast a wider net. like i said, watch huckabee's michigan ad and see basically a similar populist message succeed in a way edwards has yet to master.

  • The Obama hype will fade soon. Obama, while he is a talented candidate, has been very much inflated. He was practically unknown one year ago. No real change in the present situation, which is characterized by domination of government and life itself by big business will change with Obama's inspirational, non-confrontational approach. It's very naive to think otherwise.

  • i think it's naive to think that the obama hype will fade when edwards has a near impossible task in front of him. an obama victory may well be symbolic but it would be a powerful symbol. we need to start somewhere after bush. i think edwards would be an effective attorney general in an obama cabinet.

  • I did not say...Obama hype will fade and John Edwards will take the lead. I am simply saying the Obama hype will inevitably fade....probably after it's too late. Then people will realize they missed the real progressive and voted for mostly symbolic change.

  • ytdsmom thats cuz you're a political junkie like me and a lot of us. The average American 18-25 hasn't watched more than probably 15min. total of any of the candidates. Even if more of us are paying attention than ever.

  • Who cares what you think? You have nothing better to do than spend 24/7 on YouTube and spread a bunch of distortions about every Democratic candidate.
