Also, it doesnt "break" unless you decide to drop it on your way from the computer back to the tv. And if your speaking ability is an indication of your sense of balance or hand-eye coordination then yes, you just might break it.

I fail to see what the point to jailbreaking the Apple TV if you don't get stuff like Cydia and Installus. Until you are able to get and use apps on the Apple TV the jailbreak is useless.

hey bro....can you help me out? i downloaded pawnage tool 4.3.3 and nearly every apple tv 2g firmware i download, the prog says wrong bundle selected ! i have tried the latest firmware, i have tried 4.1, 4.2, 4.3. please can you help me out as this is driving me nuts ! lol the apple tv came with 4.2.2 originally on it. appreciate your help pal .

Visit iClarified website. You have to hold down a the 'alt/option' key when clicking the restore button in iTunes; applies to Mac via Pwnage Tool. I don't think Windows/Greenpois0n uses iTunes w/ key press, but rather is a patch. I think the Winblows way ends up tethered and the Mac way ends up untethered.

My ATV2 doesn't have one... Just Power, HDMI, Toslink Audio, & Ethernet.

And SSH does't work via the network either.

Winblows is the worst as evidenced by the anti-virus and malware industry.

At least these hacks require you to be present with your device and are not remote exploits which puts Apple above M$ in terms of security.

@venoman89 Unfortunately this video is fairly old and Apple has since updated the Apple TV firmware, you may want to try Seas0npass jailbreak for the Apple TV.

@elevenplayers unfortunately as far as I can tell there arent any PC options as of yet, however keep an eye out for Seas0npass, and greenpoison updates, they will both be able to jailbreak the newest Apple TV firmware when the PC version is out.

When I try to restore my apple tv with the 4.1 custom restore ipsw, it goes to verify with apple and than says "this device isnt eligible for the requested build." What are my options?

@WadeTheKid Nothing really for it? Seriously? Try "PLEX" which you can install onto your appletv 2nd Gen and will play almost any file type (torrent, etc.) from your computer. It will play Large .mkv files, avi's etc.

but besides that....nothing really;)

@andreas11735 No joke, when I was filming this I probably tried about 25 times to get into DFU, just gotta keep trying, sometimes hold the buttons for longer or shorter, plug in the power cord, just kinda depends.

Great video. Followed it to the letter and all works until I restore. I find the file and restore and then Apple verifies and says it isn't supported and stops the update.

Should I turn off wireless on my Macbook and the Apple TV when doing this?
