This LP (from 1980) shoulda been abit more popular than it was; Pundits opine it was 'too esoteric for the masses'.
Now, *IF* this jam woulda been released as a single (or mebbe "Summer Love", as well) the LP woulda been a considerable hit. "Big Time" was a good one, too...but lots of folks don't even *know* this jam...and UBER-MEGA-ULTRA-RAVE-FAVE of mine!
Hey drfunk, Your having what me and Big Time call having a Rick attack. lol We go into those modes where we don't listen to nothing but Rick James and the rest of his family. That my friend is a Rick attack your having welcome to the club...lol
Yes its out of print .actually it did not get a lot of airplay or production during that year .for some reason rick used it as a filler while he was working with the Stone City Band's album and while he was gearing up for Street Songs.
FUNKTASTIC!

Great post! Man, this is one of my favorite Rick James cuts! I remember seeing him perform this on Don Kirschners Rock Concert back in the day!

Why do this song have a similar sound to the Stevie Wonder's song "Do I Do"
dapharoah 3 years ago
I'm not sure maybe it's because Stevie did some background work on some of Rick's albums...
