I don't mean to offend anyone by this comment, Just saying. So I went to both private school, and public school. I particularly like private school better because I found there were nicer people, (Of course 1 or 2 mean kids in every class). But at my school the teachers taught us how to behave and be kind. When I attended public school I didn't have problems, there were a lot of nice people. But there were a lot of meaner people too. Girls were a little looser also.

Concept of private vs public school is pretty alien to me because we have so few private schools in Finland. Also only difference between private and public school here is curriculum. Both public and private schools are funded by taxes because it is illegal by law for private schools to charge tuition fees from students.

I got to a private school that is 30k a year not including food and trips. No one is snotty. A lot of kids are spoiled but they arent mean about it. We also have a ton of scholar ship kids. 25% of our school is on scholar ship. And we have to do so much community service we are also set up for the real world so you can shut it about that. I go to a private school as well, in the University of St. La Salle, I think I prefer Private schools since it has it's perks just like the video mentioned, it might be a bit expensive but it is worth it when you get high grades there, here in the university one swipe of your ID you'll know about your info, payments ang grades! (to college students only though)

I think going to either a public or private school depends on the student. You can go to the most expensive and best private school out there and be lazy and not try. You can also go to a bad public school and be smart. It depends on what the child makes out of it. Also, one of my friends knows someone who came out of private school and she loved all the freedom public school gave her and went out and party/do drugs. It really depends on the child.

I go to a private school NYC. It's called Academy of Mount Saint Ursula and it's a great all-girls private school. It's the oldest all-girls private school in New York State. I've been going to private school all my life and it's a wonderful experience. Even though it's expensive, my tution is$630 a month ($6,000 year), it's well worth the money. Plus we get top college placement. It's also a blue ribbon school, which is a very prestigious award.
The way I see public school education is its free, so you can't exactly bellyache that you didn't receive a quality education. That's what college is all about :)

By federal law, even if you go to private school your parents have to pay federal education taxes. You are not saving any money at all. Is that so? I went to public school and facilities there surpassed every school in the entire city. Also, my school ranked second in the entire district as far as sat's, graduation rate, and gpa go to only one other a school, a public school. My school's eventually pushed their achievement so high the government refused to fund them because to get money you have to show improvement, unfrotunately when you reach the high 90's you can't improve enough to get more money.

I go to an Episcopal private school. What I think most people don't get is that THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between uniforms and dress-code. Dress code is what ALL schools have, some private schools are just a little stricter about color and length and some other little things. As for tuition costs, my mother told me when I enetered this school, that it was an investment. She is investing the money in hopes that I would get a full ride in college. But I love it. As a school we ARE VERY VERY close! =)

Well in my country (Australia), there's really not much difference. The main difference is that if you go to a public school and don't get the marks to get into a government supported place, you don't go to uni. If you have wealthy parents, well then your family can buy your way into uni, and you can get a full-fee paying place.
I will also mention to you that university entrance scores for private schools are artificially inflated, because parents of students who don't perform are generally taken out of private schools, and private schools can remove non-performing students, an option which a public school doesn't have.
So before you go interpreting the average entrance scores of students from public vs private, you should probably consider things, apart from quality of education, which actually affect those scores.
at least in my area. the only good private schools r far off. the ones around here r like the richest from long island. and there considered ok but not a top knotched school. we have a elementary and middle private school in the area its prolly the best out of the whole state. my friends were way smarter than me when they walked out of that school and when i left my public middle school.

All the teachers are nice and public schools say that were all snobby and rich but thats not true! My grades were higher in public school I got Cs and Ds in my grade! In private I got As and Bs!

Also I want to point out my classes are the same size (no more than 12 or 15 in each class) and my teachers have great relationships with their students too. And I go to public school in Scotland

I got to a private school that is 30k a year not including food and trips. No one is snotty. A lot of kids are spoiled but they arent mean about it. We also have a ton of scholar ship kids. 25% of our school is on scholar ship. And we have to do so much community service we are also set up for the real world so you can shut it about that. And better edcucation are you kidding me?

I dont come from a "well to do" family. I went to public school, but I have lost faith in those schools. Now that I am an Adult, my husband and I work hard and our money goes for raising our son and giving him what we didnt have growing up. We send him to a Private School and are never looking back. It is well worth the Money, afterall, it is our child right? What wouldnt a parent do for their child? public is fine if you are lucky to find a good teachers out there, but I have lost faith

I go to a private school as well, in the University of St. La Salle, I think I prefer Private schools since it has it's perks just like the video mentioned, it might be a bit expensive but it is worth it when you get high grades there, here in the university one swipe of your ID you'll know about your info, payments ang grades! I think going to either a public or private school depends on the student. You can go to the most expensive and best private school out there and be lazy and not try. You can also go to a bad public school and be smart. It depends on what the child makes out of it. Also, one of my friends knows someone who came out of private school and she loved all the freedom public school gave her and went out and party/do drugs. It really depends on the child.

I go to a private school NYC. It's called Academy of Mount Saint Ursula and it's a great all-girls private school. It's the oldest all-girls private school in New York State. I've been going to private school all my life and it's a wonderful experience. Even though it's expensive, my tution is$630 a month ($6,000 year), it's well worth the money. Plus we get top college placement. It's also a blue ribbon school, which is a very prestigious award.

Your parents are still paying the taxes they have to pay to send you to public school. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. By federal law, even if you go to private school your parents have to pay federal education taxes. You are not saving any money at all. Also 100 dollars a month is not even enough money to pay for food for 1 person a month unless all they eat is ramen and consequently die from high blood presure from consuming msg.....

Is that so? I went to public school and facilities there surpassed every school in the entire city. Also, my school ranked second in the entire district as far as sat's, graduation rate, and gpa go to only one other a school, a public school. My school's eventually pushed their achievement so high the government refused to fund them because to get money you have to show improvement, unfrotunately when you reach the high 90's you can't improve enough to get more money.

OMG I go to a private greek orthodox school and our tuition is like $700 amonth our unifforms are crazy we were blue plaid jumpers with white short sleeved blousesunder and gray shorts underneath it has to be right underneath(once I got detention for my jumper being above my knee)your knee and as if that ain't bad enough we got to were knee high white socks with all white shoes and no more than on piercing in each ear (but I get away with 2) and no jewlrey or makeup except a cross on a chain

I go to an Episcopal private school. What I think most people don't get is that THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between uniforms and dress-code. Dress code is what ALL schools have, some private schools are just a little stricter about color and length and some other little things. As for tuition costs, my mother told me when I enetered this school, that it was an investment. She is investing the money in hopes that I would get a full ride in college. But I love it. As a school we ARE VERY VERY close! =)

I go to private Catholic... our local parish pays all the tuition so it only costs like $500. But OMG those uniforms!!!! I would kill for those, Jesus. Here the shakedown:
White oxford with all buttons except the very top (i got a mark for the 2nd to top undone which gave me detention)
Tan pants that must be bought from a certain local school uniform retailer which charges $40 a pair.
Brown or black LEATHER dress shoes.
The same exact sweater and tie on mass days once a month.
Ran out of room.

I live in the UK- i dno bout u, but it's not the , not being able to afford it, it's a case of having brothers and sisters too. I had the option a of private or state and I chose state cos I had more options and as long as you work hard there's no reason y u sudn't gt better marks than those at private schools. The only downside with state schools is that you get all the chavs and pikeys that cause havoc.

I go to a private school. It has 600 kids in it and goes from grades pre-k to 12. I've been there my whole life. Everyone knows everything about everybody (which is good and bad). It's an all girls school, but there's an all boys school the same size right across the street.

The quality of education differs from school to school so you really cant base it off of that. or gossip girl. well where i live i go to a crappy looking school but its top 20 schools in the nation. Fairly poor school, when there is a pretty good (not as great) private school down the street- $15k every year, 25 acre nice place. Those kids usually go to my school afterwards. Private School is good for younger kids so they stand out later in middle school or high school. but private high schools r known as border line not great but rich kids doing drugs basically.

Infact a 2003 study found that the drop out rate for private students from their 1st year of uni is higher than the drop out rate for public students.
Two explanatory factors.
Private school kids are:
1. more likely to come from wealthy backgrounds and figure they'll inherit a high level of wealth anyway.
2. more directed and controlled in school. So the freedoms of university are difficult to adjust to.

Well in my country (Australia), there's really not much difference. The main difference is that if you go to a public school and don't get the marks to get into a government supported place, you don't go to uni. If you have wealthy parents, well then your family can buy your way into uni, and you can get a full-fee paying place.

I will also mention to you that university entrance scores for private schools are artificially inflated, because parents of students who don't perform are generally taken out of private schools, and private schools can remove non-performing students, an option which a public school doesn't have.
So before you go interpreting the average entrance scores of students from public vs private, you should probably consider things, apart from quality of education, which actually affect those scores.
