  • Talented man who is missed by many

  • I was playing with the Vale as a kid and Duncan, my maths teacher, and Gordon were my heroes. Amazing and humble musicians.

  • hes dead????!?!? when did this happen

  • @SirBagpiperIan Tragically he committted suicide on14th December, 2005

  • The Best piper in History

  • The way he plowed through Hills of Perth reminds me of how they would have played it in, like, WWI.

...I think that's what he was going for. Nice.

  • Excellent!

  • If any1 as stumbled across this man and like Pipping he is a TRUE GOD of the PIPES (rip)

  • I don't play the pipes, but I love listening to them. I keep coming back to these videos of this wonderful musician.

Thank you for making them available.

  • Thanks Gordon for your amazing compositions. I begun to play scottisch tunes in my galician bagpipes when I just heard "Andy Renwick´s ferret". Then I understood I had to get an GHB. Your talent was unreachable for any piper I had listened to. RIP.

  • Gone, but NOT forgoten! RIP Gordon, may your soul find pipes in the sky.

  • One hell of a piper, he will be missed by all members of the RSPBA and further afield. RIP.

  • His hands and arms are very SEXY looking--!! Amazing---

RIP Man!! Will see you soon....

  • I was playing in a pub one lunchtime aboot 30 years ago ,when a young kid who was sitting at a nearby table asked if he could have a blaw on my pipes ,nae problemsays I .He then rattled of ten brilliant jigs on after another.Talk about a setback to ones piping Ego.LOL.He was inspirational to me in my piping. The Hills of Perth will never be the same without this man.RIP Gordon.

  • R.I.P Duncan, your music won't be forgotten! Bons souvenirs de Lorient too!

  • The Eddie Van Halen of piping.

  • the man was just sublime

  • Simply amazing.

  • One of the most talented pipers I've ever heard, technically incredible and soulful at the same time-a combination many advanced pipers lack. GD wrote some of my favories compositions, full of folk influences other than trad pipe music including Breton and Galcian ,again they're soulful and challenging&a joy to play.My only regret is that I never got to see him perform while he was alive. So sad he's no longer with us, such a great loss to the piping world.May his spirit live on.RIP true genius!

  • Gordon Duncan, a damn piping legend.

Now why in the hell did he commit suicide? I thought it was cause he had no wife, but I just found out he did! Oh well. he's like the Curt Cobain for Piping.

In deed, we will all miss him ver much

  • I have heard he had depression ,what a terrible loss.

  • dont disgrace his name by comparing him to that jackass. gordon duncan is a piping genius, kurt** cobain was a pothead who strummed afew chords and sang kind of shaky.

  • That comparison was based on the fact that kurt commited suicide, as well as his known fame among the grudge community (gordon being the piping community)

  • Im pretty sure his death had much to do with the fact that he became an alcoholic, and was going through severe deppression, not to mention the long, cold winters in Scotland could have added to the equation. As hard as it may be to judge someone, its especially hard to judge an artist of this magnitude. but God bless his soul. He wont be forgotten.

  • Makes me wonder why we tend to regard "potheads" differently from "alcoholics" ...

Both guys were real artists, and artists seem do do drugs. (As seen in other communities like Jazz etc.) Be it booze, pot, tobacco or whatever. Sad as it is, genius minds seem to unconsciously strive for self-destruction...

  • best piper there ever was and will be. truly the best. he would beat alasdair out of any competition by a landslide. rest in peace gordon.

  • tap drag birl, nicely done

  • the master at work

  • best piper ever!!

  • A master from our time... he won't be forgotten...

  • a close up view of how good gordon always will be. farewell

  • thank you for this images he never will be dead in ours minds and our hearths. one galician bagpiper spanish, bye

  • I was there! Probably sitting just behind you. What an amazing recital!!! Gordon forever!!!
