This version is in G major. There was a well known lead sheet on this many years ago showing it in G. I learned it in G from this sheet but since have moved to the traditional key of Bb major.
It was Jim Hall playing with Jimmy Giuffre and Bob Brookmeyer in the opening sequence of Jazz On A Summer's Day - which I saw as a kid 50 years ago -who first turned me on to modern jazz. Before then I had heard musicians like Satchmo, Django, and swing bands - my dad's taste in music - so the subtlety and creativity of Jim's playing was an absolute revelation. Changed my life.
Very nice although I find the comping with block chords by the piano player behind the guitar a little annoying in the first song. Sounds good in the second however.
There isn´t enough of Carl Perkins on records, so this makes it even more special. It´s good to hear this trio in original form. I believe they´ve added drums to the mix later on, but this is much better. Domo !!

Can someone tell me the key in which Jim Hall plays it? He begins on g / gb. So it's a minor terce below the original. So it is in G ?
