I wouldn't recommend taking them all on. Go to 1:11 in this video and keep running straight ahead until the end. You should be able to shake a couple off that way.

Also you could pull a couple into the reaper room and hopefully there will be less of them.

How long does it take you to do pools (on average)?

It all depends on which build that I use. If I do the "safe" build as shown in this video I can complete it within 12 minutes or so. If I use a riskier build I can probably get it done within 10 minutes.

I'm not much of a speed person though.

Btw this guy do it the "slow" way. The REAL build only use 2 skill to "survive". The first 1 is death charge and the other is optional (Dark escape or I'm unstopable). Death Charge help to "get out of the shit" and to avoid Charged blackness. One last thing: if you can pass the charged neer the monument, do it. Pro's never kill them. Hope this help a bit.

Yep I've done it that way too with radiation field :). However, I don't think it's wise to put a riskier build in a training video xD.

Yes a A/E can do this. Also skill is ebon battle standard adds dmg for sliver armor.
