Yes, heat protectant is your hairs' BFF. Try the CHI's heat protector its the best one and the only one I've ever used. I just screamed (ok, not really) at the manager at my local store to have it stocked since its been the third time I've told them to stock it and its also out of stock on Amazon right now.

I'm not sure if you've tried using a can of air (can be bought at Walmart, Target, CVS, Rite Aid, any store like that) to blow the dust out of the fan of your computer. It sounds like it's working harder to keep your computer cool, but that's just my guess.

As to your computer fan being load,ours was doing the same thing and we tried canned air first but it didn't do as well as we had hoped,so a friend told us that the dust thats on the motherboard fan was possibly the one that needed cleaning and to use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the dust.So we used both,air to loosen the dust and the vacuum to suck it up so it didn't just resettle back onto the fans. Hope this is helpful.
