@jef2907 of course, ure 100% correct. just like what happened when royce gracie entered ufc againts all other stand up fighters. but then, to reach this level for a karate practitioner takes many years of hard work. It lacks the ground aspect, but does pretty well on the feet.

@toacristoba Gichen funakoshi created shotokan....not karate-do. And he taught a very, very, very watered down version of real karate. He even admitted to that in his book.

I think you need to re read history of karate my friend ... or maybe I dont understand your english very well but the WKF is not just a Shotokan organisation. ... but I will tell you this , because I have experienced both JKA and WKF tournaments ... they both have their strengths and weaknesses ... do not put it down too much , a good athlete is a good athlete and a bad one is bad ... in any association.

@flashkiller45 Hello fellow Karate-Ka. Greetings from Scotland :D WKF doesn't create competitions in specific styles. It is a combination of Shotokan, Shukokai, Wado-Ryu, Goju-Ryu and Shito-Ryu (There are more styles but these are considered the main styles) The Kata may be judged differently but the Kumite isn't. Hope I cleared that up for you.

I have a question about the Kumite rules. Is it possible to score an ippon with a tettsui uchi (hammer punch) on top of your opponents head??. Its hardly ever used. Many thanks

@altan1989 I don't think so. If you do so then you are exposing your body which may lead you to getting a Mubobi (Lack of respect to your own safety) However it is still technically impacting your opponents Jodan but like Uraken it should only be used in a combination.

These are real time speeds, if you attend these tournaments you will see, its a matter of nano-second attacking and reaction. I agree with WLoZoo...to much protection and padding...takes away the basic core of fighting, now kumite is moving towards sword fencing...

@eamonob84 No i didnt speed it up at all. I got it off the official WKF dvd. Perhaps they sped it up. But i dont think so. As the original was in high def, I think it gets compressed by youtube and thus, doesn't stream well. REI
