That was a terrible crash, they don't come much harder than this.

I love racing, so do many, but we have to wonder ourselves wether it is all worth it at moments like these. I will stay a fan of racing, to watch, to do myself and to talk about it. Crazy world. :P

@tkxg Just a bruise my ass. Both drivers, Jeremy Dale(onboard) and Fabrizio Barbazza, never raced again. It took them too long to recover from their injuries. Dale was wheelchair-bound for a year after the crash. That is not "just a bruise."

I saw it happen from the infield on the front straight. It WAS brutal. Car came to rest near the end of the front straight with Dale's legs in plain view.

Dale was in the one and only carbon tubbed Spice ever built. Recently spoke with Jim Steggar and he intimated that had Dale not been in a carbon chassis car he probably wouldn't have survived.

I was at that race at Road Atlanta. They shut the track down for about half an hour and landed a helicopter on the front straight.

No jeremy broke his legs and fabrizio broke and arm leg and was in a medically induced coma for awhile. Fabrizio never raced again.

i remember when i saw this crash live on ESPN, huge huge impact... There was a also a blue porsche 911 and a oldsmobile cutlass (or it was a nissan??)i think involved in that same crash... very sad
