Anyone know if the ban on use of the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP/Gizmondo handheld games consoles on Japanese Airlines has been lifted?

Bloody hell, It is not that cool. Almost all airlines have it and most are much better than the "Magic" system that JAL have.

South African Airways, V Australia, ANA, Asiana, British Airways, Pakistan International Airlines, Emirates, Air Mauritius, Jet Airways and MANY more. That is a sub-standard NVOD (Near Video On Demand, you choose which movie you want to watch, but it runs on a loop.

@aliu1995 their Boeing 777'S HAVE PTV's that have a On-Demand-Like system. You choose the program but it is on a loop. Yeah, there was a good selection, but I got annoyed waiting for the movie to finish then start over. Their Boeing 757's, 737's and 767's don't have PTV's they have Overhead Video, unless your in Business Class, then you'll get a little portable digEplayer with 20 movies.

@aliu1995 So yeah, another question. So I went on their website and there were two movies I wanted to watch. With American Airlines On-Demand-Like system, can I select the first movie to watch and then when it's done, I can choose the next movie to watch? Is a loop not like that?

@aliu1995 Great news! American have now up-graded their Boeing 777 entertainment to ON which is a On-Demand system. Visit the AA website (Just Google American Airlines then go to [[Travel Information]] and then [[During your flight]] and then [[Entertainment]].

@aliu1995 Good, you'll have more legroom than normal. And a wider seat width (18.5 inches).

Also:

1. Underseat space at all A, J, D, and F seats is limited due to entertainment system box.

2. Beware that not all of American's 777s have the same seats in economy with power ports. Some aircraft only have power at seats 30 C and G.

I flew JAL approximately a month ago on a 747-400. Unfortunately, I only had the MAGIC-I system, whereas you were lucky enough to get MAGIC-II.

Magic-I doesn't have a main menu screen and you can't start and stop the movies when you want, you have to go to a channel and hope that you catch it at the beginning. Also, my seat's games weren't working, which would of been good, a lot of time could of been wasted playing games.

There are several airlines that do this, South African Airways, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways and Thai Airways International I think all have this remote control thing.
