In the 70s, Chi-West used to be all around Foster beach up to Montrose beach, Popes were always hanging at Foster beach in the summer, they would always run off the Puerto Ricans and Mexicans.

Some of the Polish mobs were Chi-West, Playboys, Venturers, Pulaski Park, Polish Mafia, and the South Side Popes, but there are more listed on the website. There wasn't a Chicago white gang that did not have a few Polish members.

Hey Chicago Joe, Sorry for taking so log but here it goes. The Corp was originally started back in the late 50's early 60's from members of the St. Michael's high school drum and bugle Corp. Hence the name the Corp. They more or less drifted apart as they got older and moved away. The war in Viet Nam also help to put an end to them. In the late 60's a guy got beat up. Which cause all the white gangs to unite under the Corp name. Where can I post more ?

Shorty, I forget names, what was your first name and did you go to St. Jeromes? Based on who you mentioned we absolutely hung together. Remember all the friday and saturday night parties at Joe P and his little sister Lina's apartment listening to Elvis, Frankie Vallie, the Beach Boys and other 50's music? Did you also hang with the "group home girls" along Jarvis st. and along Sherwin? I used to work at Jarvis Pharmacy at Ashland ave. Remember the pingong table at Touhy Park?

I was a junior HSG '74-'75 at Touhy Park. The older Greasers Like Ace and Turk hung out at the field house there playing pingpong among other things! My first arrest in '76, was for spray painting over the LK's symbol under the viaduct at Fargo and Ashland. A cop nicknamed "spider" caught me near the "Big Pit" with the spray paint can in the front pocket of my gray kakis. Most of us who carried on the name were from the CLASS OF '75 AT STJEROMES. Most did time, drugged out, or died. I left in 78

I'm not sure there was ever an official disbanding of HSG IN '76. Us younger Greasers just carried on from The Big Pit , Touhy Park, along the west side side of the Ravenswood tracks south of Wolcott, and Fargo st. at the Lake. Ron, older brothers Russel and Timothy, Joey, Donny, Mal, an Assirian dude, Chao, girls Lina and Wenona and many others whos names I cannot remember. The manager of Big Pit gave us our own juke box and we all brought 45s of Elvis, Franky Vallie and the Beach Boys.

As with most gangs of the 70s we came from broken families and looked out for each other as family. All that mattered was keeping the hood free of of the Latin Kings. The boundary was the Howard St. L' tracks. We were West and South they were East and North of it. Things heated up in '77-'78 with many brawls one I remember in the poolhall at Howard Bowl another just outside the Pit. I remember a bullet coming through the window at the Pit and the Big Pit getting raided by about 20 cops one night

I seem to recall that there were white guys near Howard and Ashland before the Kings.I remember walking that area and not being threatened.I recall a fight after a party on Fargo near Ashland that exposed there loyality.The area to the north became heavily hispanic and black in the mid 70's and for what ever reason, maybe out of necessity, they betrayed our friendship and the Kings took over. Clearly our fight had switched to maintaining Howard street for R.P.G. (ROYALS, POPES,GREASERS) NATION.

In re-reading what I wrote I mis-stated one of the places we hung out. I meant to say there was an alley along the west side of the Ravenswood train tracks south of Birchwood east of Wolcott. Also wanted to add that what was left of TJO(THORNDALE JAGOFFS) (Gary, and Don few others) were alongside us often. Their neighborhood near Senn H.S. turned solid Latin Kings. They were threatened every day at school and in their hood and those of us who went to Sullivan H.S., to the north, stood with them.

I grew up on Howard Street and I remember the Howard Street Greasers. They were aligned on Howard Street with another white gang called the Howard Street Lords. This was 75' or 76', to this day I still think about these young brothers out there on the corner "campaigning" as we call it in Chicago.

The Howard Street Lords(Hst.L) originally clicked up with the Howard Street Greasers(HSG) because both were the only white gang on Howard Street. They eventually came under the five when they began clicking up with the Latin Kings from H/A, Howard and Ashland. I remember Hst.L's named "J.J", "Tony", "Lil BurnOut", "Lil DJ", and "Lil Hitler" I also remember The L-K's from Howard and Ashland, "Taco", "Cucko", "Alechio", and "Ricky'. I only knew one HSG, this one dude named Barry.

@ChicagoJoe57 The Howard st Lords were united with the Howard st Kings in 1977, in 1979 the rumble you are talking about started in the park across from gale school with the HSG'S and the HSK'S and HILLBILLY from the HSLORDS was stabbed twice with a 32" cane sword by one of the HSG'S on the northside of the bosworth hotel where there was a vacant lot. HILLBILLY made it to where he lived on bosworth and died on the stairs to his apt in his mothers arms.

Pulaski Parkers were part of the PVP - Playboys, Venturers, and Pulaski Park. I heard that the North Ashland Vikings were Polish in the 1960s and then became Latino later like the Pilsen Saints.
