@rkrokberg Wow, clever, no one has ever said anything like that before. God you're clever! Why do you sound like a fucking tool and a mindless fanboy? So many questions, so little time...
I wish that Bakshi could have finished the trilogy. I saw this in theaters in the late 70's as a kid and have been a fan of Tolkien's work ever since. Peter Jackson stole a few ideas from Bakshi for sure, and improved upon them. I respect them both.
@aaaiiieee i saw bakshi on swedisth televison in 95 and was like you a fan of tolkien right then and there:D and i was only 10^^ and i agree, sad that he never finished it, i like the gothic feel it has to it :D
It was re-released on DVD and Blu Ray not that long ago. You can probably find it pretty much anywhere. It's just called "The Lord of the Rings" and it was directed by Ralph Bakshi.
@lydiaphan12 I disagree Eoywyn was frickin HOT in Jackson's version
Bakshi did however do better job with Gollum. The loincloth could've been a different color, but otherwise Gollum actually looks horrifying. Not uncanny like Jackson or cute like the OTHER crappier cartoons. Also Peter Woodthorpe was awesome, not Serkis good but alright.
It's called rotoscoping, Bakshi used it in American Pop and Fire and Ice. What do you think of the similar rotoscoping techniques in Avatar and Beowulf?
Funny! i like how you combined Bakshi's movies into the actual movie and Rankin-Bass for Return of the King. Bakshi's version wasn't too bad but Jackson was more truthful to Tolkein,
Elves are typically given slanted eyes. When given to female elves, it serves to meet nerds' mad fantasies, but when given to male elves, it enrages them.
@wicNKWD37 Yeah. A couple Lord of the Rings movies were almost made in his lifetime, but he bashed the scripts so much that they didn't make them. lol
ok i dont know if any of you ppl know this or if im understanding you wrong but this was an actual animated movie of the lord of the rings and it was a very good 1 as a matter of fact. once again i dont know if this guy is taking credit for this or not but ya this was a movie.
@00011mathius "El Señor de los Anillos" es ambos "El Fellowship del Anillo" y "Las Dos Torres." Este trabajo es excellente. La parte de "Las Dos Torres" fue separado del conjunto.
Nicely done. It had me fooled for a minute until I recognized the music from the film. I thought it might have been the trailer for the rest of Bakshi's animation that was never completed.
Yeah! Very clever! I love this kind of work! Of course I will watch your other trailers as well. And you are most welcome to watch my similar work - to use Bakshi's soundtrack and Jackson's visuals. Look for it with "Bakshi/Jackson fan's cut". Tank you again for your work.
This was SO good. In the animated Lord of the Rings, the Two Towers was the part where it completely fell apart for me and became confusing even after I read the books! So you doing it like this made it look cool again.
There are two animated Lord of the Rings movies (not including The Hobbit).
The first one is just called "The Lord of the Rings" (it has the fellowship of the ring and half the two towers in it), and the second movie is just called "The Return of the King" (and it has most of the return of the king stuff in it).
The two movies were made by different companies, so that's why they look different and don't fit togethere at all.
It's about Bilbo Baggins going on an adventure with Gandalf and some dwarves to regain the dwarves' home and their treasure from a dragon. And Bilbo finds the one ring along the way.
Interesting, Aragorn in this version is clearly a Native American. Why he was drawn so? Bakshi wanted to say something, like, the ACTUAL kings of the America were the native americans?
Again, I applaud you (five stars), must have taken you AGES making those. But I still hate the way they did the animated version of Aragorn back then. I am fine with the Elf, though. At least they made him laugh from time to time, PJ's take on Legolas' character only showed the serious elven warrior. I also hated the animated Elrond, btw.
For the past 4 days I have been Re-Editing the animated movie and I have put in music from the Jackson trilogy also I have separated the movies like rather than the lord of the rings animated being the fellowship and the two towers it is only the Fellowship of the ring. Then I will edited the Two towers using the last 40 minutes of the animated movie and then the animated return of the king it will be like the animated trilogy then the Jackson trilogy.
Sounds great. I did something similar but only with the Return of the King. I didn't add any music. I just took about most of the singing because I drives me crazy. And I took about some of the parts that went against the book and common sense. And I fixed the "time line" by cutting back and forth between the storylines in the correct chronilogical order. Are you going to put yours on youtube? I don't know if I ever will because I made my version really just for fun late one night.
I am not sure if I will put it on youtube I have been thinking about it but not sure. With the animated trilogy I am going to do the same thing you did to the return of the king the animated one but i will put the music in and I am going to TRY i will attempt to make it look like in the animated return of the king the armies battle at the black gate.
I haven't even seen either of those movies, but I have read the book. If I was more familiar with those movies I probably would. But I have other things I'd rather do. Sorry.
