Not gonna lie i hope to see this QB on the field Next Year it makes me sad that hes gonna waste his whole career behind Taylor who doesnt have a chance at the pro lvl where this kid does im sorry but wasted Talent....... Pisses me off
i think he definitely deserves a look...however i've heard rumors that he he's had trouble running the offense because it's too difficult for him...also that he's not a natural leader...again...just rumors i've heard
I want to see Brion get some quality reps against the Gophers next week. We had better beat them badly. They do have Gray a very swift footed guy, but he isn't their main QB. Carne's needs to get involved in the Husker offense in my opinion. Draw up some plays were we can get him on the field with Martinez at the same time. Way better scrambler than Taylor, and shifty. Does not have Martinez speed,. Few people do. Plenty fast enough to rip off long gains though. Throws well on the move.
WOW this makes me fucking sick watching this bc i don't understand how taylor martinez is our starting QB!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey Bo we will never b an elite team with #3 as our QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After watching this then watching Martinez' senior highlights, I think Brion Carnes is a better QB. Taylor Martinez is a little faster and more explosive, but Brion Carnes is no slug. Taylor either threw the ball right away, pump faked then threw a deep route, or ran it. Brion seemed to just make plays happen. He would avoid the pass rush, and make something happen with is arm. Taylor Martinez either runs or gets sacked when plays break down, but Brion makes great plays with his legs and/or arm.
Seeing the way this kid plays makes me much less worried about the possibility of losing Starling to baseball. I love the fact that he looks just as comfortable throwing the ball as he does running and he can make big things happen when a throw isn't there. The fact that can (and will) throw the ball (accurately, I might add) when needed should put him ahead of Martinez this fall.
wow. amazing, so many comments about if he throws a spiral or not but not one mention of the fact that EVERY single pass he threw on this video was on target even under pressure. it looks like to me that he can make every throw effortlessly and is just as good running the ball as any other qb we have on our roster. i think to reach our ultimate goal of winning national championships it will be with a qb like carnes or starling who can throw in the clutch. martinez reminds me of eric crouch!
Everyones quick to forget how good martinez started the year. Martinez wasn't the same after he got hurt. Let's see how he bounces back next year and remember he was only a freshman.
I like how he actually throws the ball well when there's pressure...and when the pocket is collapsing, he runs out of it and still looks downfield to his receivers rather than instantly trying to run the ball or take a sack.
Can you imagine if Bo gives him a shot nxt year. If Martinez is being a bad apple its Carnes Starling or Turner. Green hast showed enough to be a starter
@madden09guy distant cousin but Tommie still tipped them off to him after they were having trouble finding a qb hopefully he will be as successful as his cousin
Looks good in Manatee Red. Can't wait to see him in Husker Red for four years!!! Can't wait to see him develop under Bo and Co. Can't wait to see him be the next stud at NEBRASKA!! GO BIG RED
@ManateeFootball He is a really good QB, i cant wait too see him play for Nebraska. i am really excited, he has really good WR's too. what schools are looking at #11?
OH Yeah!! I think he has "IT"! He may not have the same "throw" as Tommie, but what about the "WHEELS"?! Some of them runs sparked some flashbacks to me! So, for greedy reasons... Red shirt to learn the system... Then START the next 4 years!! It looks like he's got what it takes for the next level. WELCOME TO NEBRASKA, Mr. BRION CARNES!!
GO BIG "NATIONAL HEISMAN CHAMPIONSHIP" RED!!!
by the way.. can we get numbers 1 and 11 to come along with him?? lol
Also, the throw at 6:08 is just awesome. Slips on the plant foot, and still has the ability to hit the receiver in stride with an offbalanced front foot throw.
@hephastus4 and come on number #1 on his team needs to be recruited come on did u see the skills on this kid,,,way underated, maybe because of size but he's nice....real nice and Carnes! oh My God! i have been looking all over for his highlight tape and Man..does he have speed..its over for the Big 12 Go big Red!!!
Best feature about this kid....his eyes. Always down the feild. Pocket breaks down, he makes one move, and his eyes are back on his receivers. He truly is a throw first, dual threat quarterback. That is not an easy athlete to find. Skers nabbed a good one, for sure!
I don't think his release looks anything like Tommie's release. He has a much smoother throwing motion than Tommie did. But he will need to shorten his "wind up" to geth the ball out faster. I know one thing...the kid is very athletic and can move. Very impressed with his ability running the ball.
Next year he needs to be on the field #huskernation

awkward release/wobbly throws, but he has good pocket awareness and has the speed and quickness to make something out of nothing.

Thanks for all the great comments so far. I can't wait to see Brion with Nebraska (even though I'm a USF student)!
As for the receivers in the video:
#1 is Ace Sanders. He's a Senior who signed with South Carolina.
#11 is Quenton Bundrage. He's a Junior and I'll have his highlights up soon.
