The islands were uninhabited when we found them and claimed them as sovereign territory. Argentina didn't even know they were there. You can't call the colonial card on this one, we didn't invade it. It was unused land which we put to use. The government uses it as rhetoric to distract you from the true issues in Argentina. As it was said recently by our government, they shall remain British territory for as long as they WANT to be British territory.

The islands were uninhabited when we found them and claimed them as sovereign territory. Argentina didn't even know they were there. You can't call the colonial card on this one, we didn't invade it. It was unused land which we put to use. The government uses it as rhetoric to distract you from the true issues in Argentina. As it was said recently by our government, they shall remain British territory for as long as they WANT to be British territory.

Besides the 4.5" guns, all other British AA guns fired ammo that was point detonating (impact fused) with self destruct. These rounds would detonate at a predetermined, fixed distance to avoid coming back to earth and blowing stuff up on the ground. Thus RN 20 and 40mm AA bursts wouldn't follow planes around like this but would explode the same distance from the mount regardless of how far away the aircraft was. There would have been lots of MG tracer though!
