  • Love your voice. I only wish you had more in English.

  • Found them by chance. Terrific! Now if they can do Paul Whiteman and Isham Jones?

  • The best band of the 40s, today!

  • What a fantastic sound & voice!

To think Germany missed out on all this during the 1930s and 40s all because Hitler banned swing music.

  • I didn't know that was an orchestra that played the fantastic music of the 20s and 30s. It's so good it makes me want to cry. If only Max Raabe could come to the U.S. sometime soon... :) I absolutely LOVE it.

  • god i love this lol.

Vielen Dank! Ich finden den Mann großartig.

  • @katrinluffi - hi, the first song is Vivere and I believe it may be on the DVD of Max and the Orchester in Rome. I think they also play it in their show at the Waldbuhne which is here on youtube in about six parts. Hope you will be able to get a usable translation of this on one of the translating sites. Best wishes to you. byline7844 in NY.

  • is there a DVD of that show? I'd love to get a copy....

  • @psplayer89 Sorry I did not find your question sooner, There is a DVD if that show: simply called Max Raabe & Palast Ochester - think I bought mine at Amazon but google and see where you can get the best deal. Another great DVD is "Heute Nacht Oder Nie" (Tonight or Never.) I was lucky w/ this and got 3 disks: the show on DVD, the making of the show, and a bonus music CD. I also have the Concert in Rome but watch the formatting. It is formatted for Europe, and Palast Revue format: DVD9. Check.

  • Wonderful!

  • Does anyone know what the third song is.

    Was ist das dritten lied?

  • @koensigg "over my shoulder" ;) it's on youtube, too

  • @koensigg

Dort tanzt Lulu is the name of the third song

  • Great video Love this sound but it's Max Raabe and The Palast Orchester(12 pieces) but thank you so much for uploading

  • Thanks. Palast Orchester translated to English means Palace Orchestra.

  • wondaba

  • Isn't that Nyles Crane from the Frasier TV show?

  • I love this kind of music!

  • scho geil man des erinnert mich an meine Kindheit Max Raabe isch hammers ich lieb ihn

  • stupid circle

  • The entire orchestra (plus the soundman) showed up at our rock and roll show after their own show- what a great and friendly group of gentlemen- one of the most enthusiastic audiences we've ever had! For certain, the best dressed audience we've ever had the pleasure of performing for! :D ...their next stop? Carnegie Hall! ...If anyone from the orchestra ever reads this, thank you so much for coming to our show- we had so much fun! :D

  • I just heard Herr Raabe in a radio interview: "during Germany's first democracy, anything was possible." He brings the era so much to life that nostalgia isn't the right word: more like resurrection and revelation. The serpent in the Garden of Eden must have borrowed his voice-- smooth, controlled, with marvelous range and effortless virtuosity. It's some of the sexiest music-making I've ever heard. Today's pop stars are klutzes and morons by comparison.

  • Just heard this man sing last night for the very 1st time! Gotta hear more!

  • oh man i love this guys singing :D

  • Super!

  • I love how retro this group is! And Max sounds hot when he sings in Italian (I speak some and I gotta say he sounds great for someone whose native language is so different)

  • God that's brilliant.....

  • Anyone know when the full DVD will be out of this concert?

  • It is out... Its called..Max Raabe & Palast Orchester, you can get it from Barnes and Nobel... Its a good DVD!

    von "tonigt or never" ???

  • uh is he married?

  • nope

  • An outstanding recreation of music from this era. First rate orchestra and vocalist.

  • The song min 1.12 is "You're the cream in my coffee" Words & Music by Lew Brown, Buddy DeSylva & Ray Henderson

  • This is not by Tito Schipa, it is by Cesare Bixio, the song is called "Vivere"

  • And his neck is toooooooooooooooooo long.

  • You should have said it as: "long neck is looooooong", if you understand what I mean.

  • He's damn good looking.

  • horrible! he must sing in german, and no Tito Schipa repertoire, english the same!

  • Max is fantastic!

I would love to see him in person.

  • yeah, iTunes for sure, i checked as soon as i saw the video, 10* (i wish) btw, amazing!!

  • Just like the good old days!!

  • He's really good at creating that sound they had back then. Not everyone knows how to do that! Great music!

  • The guy is Max Raabe with his Palastorchester. He is absolutely big in Germany.

He regularly fills the Waldbühne arena in Berlin with 15000 and already had a concert in Carnegie hall.

The concept is, that he perfectly performs german and english songs from the 20, 30s and 40s.

  • Love it!

  • I love this song, who is this guy?

  • He is impressive! I have just discovered it in your video, thanks you!

  • He sings better than Rudy Valley
