Revolver was a landmark in recording techniques. It was in revolver that the ADT (Automatic Double-Tracking) system was used and invented. It was in revolver that backwards effects started being used by the beatles. If you listen very closely to the mono version of Revolver, you notice that everything was double-tracking, you notice that the cymbals are backwards, you ear the fade and then sound explosion in the end instead of the sound explosion in the beginning and then the fade.. wait a bit.

It was on revolver that the flanger effect was invented and it was in revolver that the way of recording the drums was changed, before revolver, there was 3 mics to the drums, in revolver and after revolver, each drum had a mic for it, and hi-hats had a mic for it. I've got to say Abbey Road was their best. The compositions of lyric and melody were much more intricate, classical and memorable. Abbey Road really showcases their maturity both as a band and as master songwriters. (No doubt, George Martin deserves a bit of credit, too.) That said, all their albums were great.

It's very simple. Paul is one of the best bass guitarists in the world, and when he plays, it's so personificated, that anyone else's bass part sounds imperfect. I think he's the best ever. Whenever I listen to him on stage (live) I can't help my tears.
