A three-number combination lock is pretty trivial to bypass, especially these. (Look for a guessing guide: the numbers aren't completely random.) You will look incredibly sketchy trying to do so and therein lies the actual security. If you're in a locker room where there are some hours when few people are around it doesn't matter.

@Baltam314 You don't need a U-Lock on your locker (even those can be picked with enough skill and time or cut through with a saw, Dremel tool, or angle grinder and time), just don't have one of the easiest locks in the room. You can bet a thief will not start with the toughest one. He will either explicitly or subconsciously weigh the likely rewards with the probability of getting caught.

here's an easier way than just pushing down.

instead of pushing it on the inside part of the shackle, do it on the ouside part. it should slide down pretty easy. using needle nose pliers, twist it into the inside. this forces the ball mechanism off, and you just pull on the shackle, and it opens. only downside is that the shim has a life of about 3 tries. after that, its pretty much screwed. just make another one.

Tried it . We were forced to get Comb-locks for our lockers at work this week. I told people that I saw someone hack these locks in like two seconds with a soda can. They were like Oh Yea show us!! I tried.. I failed.. The shim has to be so percise as to make it too weak to push the ball out.. Maby it only works in older locks, and not brand new ones.. But it didnt work..
