Cartier Tank, Omega Speedmaster, and Rolex DateJust definitely belong on the list. Each was either a first that we all take for granted now, or achieved something no other watch did.

One watch that was surprisingly absent . . . Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. The first modern dive watch. Back before dive computers existed, and when dive watches were actually needed for diving. Even ahead of the Rolex Submariner by a couple of years.

Luxury stainless steel . . . The very definition of pretentious.

Don't know whether Submariners are good investments any more. The prices of vintage ones are ridiculous, and the new ones are never going to be hard to find. A used recent model might be the best option (which proves that it wasn't a good investment for the original buyer)

How can you not have the Daytona? The Datejust is such an ugly watch whereas the Daytona is absolutely beautiful and I think the definitive sports watch - and you can wear it for any occasion. Don't get me wrong I love Subs but if push came to shove I would take a Daytona over a Sub anytime.

Not a bad list, but i think IWC deserves a place in atleast the top five. And since there was no number 8 in this video I would argue that perhaps a portuguese should be slotted in at maybe number 2 or 3. Still a great video regardless!

Interesting - everyone will be asking why no V & C, Jaeger etc., but each to his own. I think it was a shame to have 2 Cartiers and 2 Rolexes though....even though I own both.....Never particularly liked Patek, until I saw that one just - Doh! I wish I hadn't looked now!

Nice choice of fine watches. You have a very good taste in watches. But I don´t like the style of Patek Philippe. I´m more a friend of sporty-elegant watches like the Rolex Submariner, GMT II, Datejust or even the Day-Date. The Omega Speedmaster is also a very hot timekeeper to have but in my opinion the older Breitling Crosswind and older Windrider models (like the 81950) from the mid 90´s are the most beautiful watches an that planet. They unite classic, sporty and elegant design in one watch.

Richemont, who owns Cartier, lists the company not as a specialist watchmaking maison like it does with Jaeger-LeCoultre or IWC, but rather as a jewelry maison. Cartier does have a great history of watch design, and its Tank watch is nothing short of a classic. It’s just too bad it has ruined the line by using subpar movements, movements so bad no amount of history could redeem them. Cartier makes great jewelry for your wife; it doesn’t make great watches for you.I don't approve your list.

@leesmusic maybe. It will. You are right. But they are not that good. I have worked with them. Sold them even. And I have sold Patek, Audemar, Vacherone, Franck Muller, Dewitt and others. All that piss over the Submariner. The plain and simple fact that a company such as Rolex who make just under a million watches a year, could pertain to be of a superior quality. The branding is great, which is why you bought one. Not because it is any good.

I never knew that Hitler was a fan of A Lange. I have researched this claim and see that you are correct. I have now smashed the entirety of my small collection, including my grandfathers Lange 1, with a hammer. Actually, I put the Lange 1 in a vice and crushed it slowly, I enjoyed destroying it thoroughly. Anything that Hitler liked is sewage as far as I'm concerned and I flushed the remains down my toilet.

I was really getting worried there when you got through #2 after showing two Rolex pieces without yet showing a Patek.... thank you, thank you, thank you for coming through! I must say I disagree with multiple Cartier pieces (not as much as I disagree w/ Rolex being in there at all though). So many other good companies: Chopard, V. Constantin (obv), Hublot, Perregaux, Longines etc. Shouts to new guys too: Daniel Roth, Michel Jordi, and IMO one of most underrated Dubey-Schaldenbrand. Cheers!

This is a bit stupid is it not? Som series change. Just look at the daytona. the best daytona is the one with the zenith movement and so on. You need to also name the year of the series.

The calatrava is a stupid nr 1 since it is just an expensive and mechanical inferior to Jaeger LC.

Patek as a brand is a stupid nr 1 since if you look at it as a watch it is nothing impressive. Its only beautiful made and gold.

Best WATCH is Hybris Mechanica 55 and gyrotourbillon from jaeger LC.

Rolex did not produced Date/day watch because it may break easily. Therefore, its brand last so long because of they only producted dates not days. I do like this video but for their prices, I prefer to get some just working ones.
