At the end of halo 3 when the frigate collapsed during the jump to slipspace and the frigate was split in 2, the arbirter landed safely home whil the chief was lost in space and decided to take a nap in a cryo tube. Unfortunatly Cortana may fall apart or become rampant in the time it takes for the UNSC to find the Chief.

@shakerben10 the arbiture comes to realize that the great journey is a lie and that halo is actually a weapon so the elites join forces with the unsc to fight off truth and the flood which is what the halo rings were built to destroy. halo reach takes place before any of this and before there was a flood threat and even before a halo ring was even known to exist. when reach was destroyed the pillar of autumn made a blind slip space jump to escape the covenant and end up at a halo ring.

Earlier I thought Noble 6 was master Cheif, being rebuild again since it said at the end but I thought wrong.
