The majority of Nascar drivers grew up racing road courses. This is the next level. Formula one drivers go to Nascar to race at a higher level and I'm yet to see one keep up in oval racing. Oh and FYI, Nascar races road courses as well.
You start your racing career on a road course, and many of the nascar drivers started there. Oh and by the way, the last 18 IROC races (best drivers of all the leagues including formula one) and 22 out of the last 24 have been Nascar drivers. In fact every driver on that group has been a driver racing in a league that races on ovals, and no driver who primarly races formula one has ever won it or a Nascar championship, and that includes one of the greatest F1 racer ever.
But your probably right, probably no talent what so ever. If its so easy, why don't you start doing it. I mean those guys make millions, so you'd be stupid not to go do it if its so easy for you.
Guess it depends on how you define Athletic, by the legal definition it does take an athlete. It really is a sport you have to be in shape for if you ever do it you'd really understand why. But really if its so boring why watch it or go searching for youtube video's of it.
So its boring, yet hilarious, if that makes sense. And if you want to tell a cop that then fine. He will tell you to go to a track, or find a better way to exercise. I didn't think you had to be in shape to race either till I did it. But at the pro level, you have to be in shape like a fighter pilot has to be in shape, to consistantly take take the level of G-forces lap after lap. The truth in it, you have never done it so you would you shouldn't speak of it.
If its so easy why aren't you doing it. In road racing like La Mans, rallying, adn circuit racing, there is room to make mistakes and make them up later, at this level drivers have become so good you don't have room to make a mistake. Road racing (which nascar does have as well) does involve skill, but oval racing puts everyone on the same level and requires perfection. And better yet, there is always places to pass, so someones always coming at you.

I like NASCAR and am not a hick. I have ived in Maine all my life. I have not followed it alot but still like it. Y Back in the 50's before NASCAR got started people were driving on the beach (actual beah) in Daytona Florida which does have to take skill or you spin in to the water. Racing wasn't hicks, bussiness men reaced after work when they could. I think bussiness men had to be educated to do their job.
NASCAR: the world's longest left turn, watched by inbred rednecks around America. It has been recently discovered that the reason they watch motorized sports is because most of them are fat, and see motorized sports as a way to be an athlete without actually exercising. Seriously, NASCAR sucks.

WRC adds a point-to-point format in stages which have as many hazards as possible in addition to what I stated about F1/V8SC. You start your racing career on a road course, and many of the nascar drivers started there. Oh and by the way, the last 18 IROC races (best drivers of all the leagues including formula one) and 22 out of the last 24 have been Nascar drivers. In fact every driver on that group has been a driver racing in a league that races on ovals, and no driver who primarly races formula one has ever won it or a Nascar championship, and that includes one of the greatest F1 racer ever.

I didn't think you had to be in shape to race either till I did it. If its so easy why aren't you doing it. In road racing like La Mans, rallying, adn circuit racing, there is room to make mistakes and make them up later, at this level drivers have become so good you don't have room to make a mistake. Road racing (which nascar does have as well) does involve skill, but oval racing puts everyone on the same level and requires perfection. And better yet, there is always places to pass, so someones always coming at you.

I like NASCAR and am not a hick. I have ived in Maine all my life. I have not followed it alot but still like it. Y Back in the 50's before NASCAR got started people were driving on the beach (actual beah) in Daytona Florida which does have to take skill or you spin in to the water.
