  • could it be used for defense against bears?

  • Could you shoot .410 through it? Sorry if thats a crazy question.

  • gun with 2 hands some time dont swatnteam me please !!

  • wtf atf i hold my hand

  • wasted materials- The loop ring makes working th action slower, Cut down the capacity from 10 rounds to 6 and shooting .45 colt rounds has a pistol will effect the accuracy. You want a pistol buy a pistol You want a lever riflle then buy one.....Let me load aanother 6 and try again. This gun is a joke

  • how much did this gun cost??

  • @gamerchris53 - I think at the time I got it, it was around $500, but that was when it first was released. Google it to get the current prices...

  • You talk too much!!! No one cares if you wear a jacket or not!!!

  • @westexpipeliner1 - and I see you do so much better on your videos. Oh wait, you don't actually post any, you just comment on other people's work. Keep it up, you're making such a wonderful contribution here...

  • @westexpipeliner1 thank you..................too much talk and not enough action

  • Not a handgun in Canada.

  • Second shot was high and to shoot mr. Badass, nice background music... I'm considering getting myself a 50cal double barrel muzzleloader interchangeable with birdshot and bullets. :D

  • cannot wait to order mine tomorrow. im ordering the .38 spl/.357 mag though. i didnt know it was considered a handgun until this vid. glad i have my permit to purchase. great video

  • Wait! Did the NFA/ATF say that handgun/ pistol(s) are ment for one hand?

  • What they call a "bead" in the front isnt one.A plain bead would be ideal... and a smaller hoop... cool gun, though.

  • Santa I want a 44 mag ranch hand please =)

  • i would give my left nut to have one of those can you get them in Australia

  • @dick77ish - I have no idea, I would contact them through their website: rossiusa dot com

  • Comment removed

  • @dick77ish im sure you can get someone from america or southamerica to ship one to you! good luck man these things are beast

  • Great vid man the rifleman =]

  • Wait, so since your saying it is a han gun, do you need a permit to own one?

  • @narutorasengan162 - that really depends on where you live. Are you in a gun-friendly state or a gun not-so-friendly state like NY, MA or the People's Republic of Kalifornia?

  • @narutorasengan162 - sorry to hear that. I lived ther most of my life and I must say that it's nice to be away from the snow and in a place where your second amendment rights are not infringed upon.

  • @AmendmentNo2 Haha, yeah i bet. What state do you live in?

  • @narutorasengan162 - I'm in FL now - no more shoveling snow (or dealing w/idiots who don't know how to drive in it) and I carry pretty much 24/7/365!

  • @AmendmentNo2 HAHA nice!

  • @narutorasengan162 In Canada its a rifle :p and you can use it as a hunting rifle..

  • @WildAndLiving AWWWW Nice! America really sucks some times! But it's still better than most countries, i wouldn't wanna be livin somewhere like Africa or something.

  • @narutorasengan162 Africa you can own anygun you want and I mean any gun some countrys at least.. you want a machine gun or a pistol they are all considered the same.. You are resposable for the firearm with your life if its used in a crime ect you can be charged with that crime so they say (for legal owners) defend your gun with your life since there is so much croption ect there.. black market 200 bucks gets you rpg ect..

  • @WildAndLiving HAHA! Jeez! And yeah i bet but that's just the problem, you can have whatever you want, I wanna be able to have things but still with order, which i bet is a hard thing to obtain throughout a large population.

  • Hell im going to buy it just for the flip action you can do with it. I've tried to find one for my lever action shotgun but I've never been able to locate an enlarged loop lever

  • @GGuyerer - FWIW I see these at all the gun stores these days...

  • A midget or a very small person could use this as a rifle. Great post, thanks for sharing.

  • I believe a good debate is always healthy, but I still say it is a short rifle(like a sawed off one) I don't care what it says on the box. The goverment defines it and so do I a rifle. But I do like this gun and being the great western fan I am I will definately buy one.

  • @sprofitt777 - there is nothing to debate - the government defines it as a HANDGUN. You can call it what you want, but it is a handgun, you saying otherwise does not make it so. Sorry...

  • @AmendmentNo2 The government also classified a piece of string as a machine gun once, and just declared a certain brand of steel wool to be a suppressor.

It is "Technically" a handgun by legal definition, but really we both know its a carbine.

  • This is a nice video and I like this gun, but I don't know how you can call it a handgun, this is a short level action , like I have seen in western movies, also according to the description from the goverment shown early in the video, a hangun is a firearm you can operate with only one hand how can you do that with a lever gun?

  • @sprofitt777 - I don't disagree. While it is ergonomically challenged, it is still legally a handgun. If it was a rifle then it would be considered a short barrel rifle (SBR) and be subjetc to NFA rules. It's a handgun.

  • Oh sorry I thought it was a shot gun, forget about it then

  • And it shot about 6 inches high from about 25 yards away, and from 60 yards it shot a good foot high. I thought maybe it was me but my uncle shot it and same reaction. So I tried different ammo and same response. I give it a 6 1/2 out of 10. I am taking it to the gunssmith to get it worked on. Maybe after that I will give it a 10 of 10. But its a brand new gun and it isnt accurate out the box. At least not mine...

  • @fast11secvet - mine shoots where you aim it, but I wasn't able to do that until I got used to the gun. It's a handgun that weighs 4lbs and it isn't exaclty ergonomic...

  • @AmendmentNo2 Maybe I got to get used to it. I've been reading reviews and everyone says its hard to load the 357mag. Now do you have the 38/357mag or another caliber? Still taking it to a gunsmith and see what they think along with reading more reviews on it

  • @fast11secvet - Mine is the 45 colt

  • I just bought one two days ago and went to shoot it yesterday. I bought the 38/357magnum version. Well it wont load the 357 magnum from the lever action. The 38 special loading is no problem.

  • I want one sooo bad.

  • you can also tell by the ammo which are shells

  • this is actually a rifle not a hand gun, you can tell because its lever action and of its type of its barrel.

  • @RemixstudiosJG This is actually a handgun.

  • @RemixstudiosJG Sorry, you are wrong. According to U.S. law, it is considered a handgun, despite being leveraction. Also, the ammunition shown in the video is .45 Colt, which is a handgun cartridge originally developed for the Colt Single Action Army revolver.

  • why would you not consider it for self defense? seems like it would be good for packing around in the hills or busting it out in your house... so why would you not recomend for self defense?

  • @IHmattIHmontana - that's a good question. Let me rephrase and say that it would not be my first choice as a HD weapon. Watch my Gun Porn: Multi-Angle video and at about 1:50 you will see how awkward it is to manipulate. It simply can not compare to a good semi-auto or even a revolver.

Having said that, I do suppose it's possible to become proficient enough with it after LOTS of practice. It IS a fun gun though...

  • @AmendmentNo2

i get what your saying but backpacking up here in montana or camping i would rather have that then semi auto pistol or a revolver because you get more velocity and acuracy and as far as semiauto they dont come in magnum accept magnum research and in grizzly country a .45 just doesnt cut it and in my house if someone was coming in a window i like to have 2 secure hand on my firearm so id prefer rifle. thanks for the review though definatly helps in my decision

  • Looking forward to picking up one of these in the next few months. Thanks for the review.

  • It may not be practical but it IS COOL, I have to get one.

  • what is the point of this gun ?? Didnt the rossi 92 suck bad enough allready ..Jamming .....doesent eject ...i know lets saw it off on both ends so i can have a 4 shot handgun that takes 2 hands to shoot when its not jamming

  • Can you use .44 special in it?

  • @hydra046 - not in this one, it's a .45 Colt. ROssi does make a .44 Mag version though...

  • where did you buy yours.....how can i get one

  • @1tinkerbellsdust1 - I got it at my local gun store. Bear in mind that it is a handgun, not a rifle, and all laws regarding purchasing handguns will apply!

  • PROUDLY MADE IN BRAZIL !

  • Even though I can't think of a practical purpose for a short lever action handgun, it does look fun and I wouldn't mind having one myself.

  • That is an awesome looking weapon. I am considering getting one because it looks like it would make a fairly decent personal defense weapon.

  • @Dukefraz Definitly intimidating, unless of course you don't give a shit what the guys story is and if hes in your house your going to take advantage of the fact that your by law aloud to fuck him up. (in Texas atleast you can :D)

  • 1st, was that you son twirling the rifle?

2nd, what is the length from the back of the stock to the trigger?

  • @frankgon4 - sorry to hear you are experiencing problems. This one has never experienced any kind of failure whatsoever. To answer your Q's:

    1) yes, that was my son, and

    2) it is 7.75" from the trigger to the back of the stock.

I also just ordered snap caps from Brownell's to see if the flip cock will actually eject a spent casing and properly load a new round in the chamber. I have no interest in trying it with live ammo, but it will be nice to know if it works...

  • @AmendmentNo2 Thanks for the quick reply.

It is not me that is having problems. It is randyhound68

I am considering one in either .357 or .45 as I can get more velocity out of the 12 inch barrel.

I think for a .44, I would go with a full size rifle.

  • i got one in 38spl/357 smooth action but dosent eject spent shell caused next round to jam under slide i will send it back to be repaired not impresed yet let you know how it works when i get it back

  • @randyhound68 Message me when you find out. I was just thinking about one in .357 magnum.

  • Great video, nice job!!!

  • this video did not suck.

    i laughed at the music.

  • AWESOME!!!!! That thing is sick! That is as close to a "rifle" as you can get and be a pistol... Very good video. I want one soooooooo bad!!!!!

  • I'd love to make a video like that, have to look up the fair use laws again to see how much of a clip I can use without getting hassled by youtube. =)

  • @wishbone1138 - FWIW I didn't get any messages from YT about the clips or theme songs I used in this video. I think that the older the material, the better chance you have of it being in the public domain (if that's even the right term). Although at the end of my AR57 review I use a small portion of Janie's got a Gun from Aerosmith... that got me a copyright (with no action required) love note from YT...

  • When you shoot the gun your suppose to grab the grip and the barrel, close your fist around the barrel (I don't know how to explain it well, you just have to see it). Also it would help make shooting it easier if the lever was smoothed out so it was easy to move it and if a tear drop lever loop was put on it because that lever loop isn't as large

  • First off thanks for the review... I was hoping someone would do one sooner or later.

The orginal gun was called a Mare's leg. I consider myself a professional with this gun even though I DO NOT OWN ONE, but I'm looking to get one.

Orginal Mare's leg: Almost no stock (less than the rossi), Front site was gone, seenn first in Trackdown, used in Wanted: Dead or Alive, suppose to be a quick shoot from the hip weapon, shot one handed if need be, orginally in 44-40,

  • That particular firearm was first invented for Steve McQueen's character on the television series Wanted: Dead or Alive (1958-1961). Great old western. It was cut down from a winchester model 1892 rifle. Look on wikipedia for Mare's Leg. You may have known this already, I just didn't see you mention it in the movie segment of your video. Thanks for the video, I've been thinking of picking one of these up. Definitely a fun movie gun and not really meant for much else.

  • @wishbone1138 - Thanks for the historical info! I was considering doing more about the weapon's on-screen history but decided that the video would have been too long and the review of the gun itself would get lost in the mix. Maybe somoeone will put together a collage of all the clips in one video someday... that would be informative, fun & interesting!

  • really cool gun!
