ok. This I think is a really nice lesson. This guy is gently guiding beginners into the world of blues playing. This is a difficult thing to do...I think he does a great job here. Carry on Brother!!!
You're a fucking reject. You obviously don't know a whole lot about music. Every style is, or can be technical and hard. Blues derrives from jazz you fuck, and jazz is one of the most complicated styles there is. Blues is only seems dumb to you is because you have no soul, or feeling. Go stick youre head in a toilet.
Gibsonrock4all... heavy metal guitarists are all the same. They bash all other styles cause it may seem simpler. blues is not simple to play you dumb fuck. blues is one of the hardest styles to play. and not just the leads are hard, the rythm is actually the hardest part of blues. especially SRV's rythm's. you obviously have no idea what music is. Basicly every single metal head today has forgotten what music is about. because metal now is utterly soulless and lifeless.
hahahah not at all dude like i said i play both and your probly right in most cases of the rythm being the harder section but maybe its just cause thats what i learned first the blues style sooo it comes more naturally than metal which still feels akward at times its much more techniqual without doubt but then blues you have to put more feeling in it depends on what your good at i supose...
your an idiot! EVERY style can be technical and hard. The reason you think blues is easier is cause you obviously have physical limitations to how good you can play. You've obviously recently started hence the reason blues isn't hard for you since you play the easiest stuff ever conceived on this planet. just wait ti'll you actually play some really difficult stuff. like SRV. Blues isn't just a few simple chords and then a little solo.
hahahahahahhahhhaha alright dude you must know what i can do better than me ahaha silly me what was i thinking know what im talking about?!? NOPE! ahahaha what ever dood just droppin my opinion sorry it deeply angers you for whatever reason
i can mostly assure that i have not forgotten my roots, and for the most part i love older rock and blues more than my metal. chillax dude, blues is about the soul, not the anger, no more fighting.
Actually Jazz is derived from the blues. Thats why you use "blue" notes in Jazz. Blues is fairly simple to pick up since it doesn't rely heavily on technique (as opposed to classical) but it is difficult to master. In other words anybody can learn technique if they practice hard enough but only a few can play with soul. Technical doesn't necessarily mean hard. Even in classical music... its not your technique people are looking for or listening to its how you bring the piece to life.
man forget about these guys all i can say is that through some of your other lessons especially on modes you've helped me thank you. don't let these fools get in the way of your postings, there's people out there like me who need it.
I'm sure I agree with you on most of those points, but first please post the link to your instructional videos. I figure I'd best make a comparison before wholeheartedly endorsing your vitriol.
I agree, I think a some of these people just came in here to say stupid crap. They were already going to say something negative no matter what it was.
This guy put makes a bunch of good points. If you want to learn, learn from different people but don't deny this guy's teaching, it's really good.
He's teaching you but what really like about this guys teaching is that he is giving room for people to make up their own stuff. He is giving you the basic tips and that is all a person needs.
I understand what you're saying, but who are you to make disparaging remarks to an aspiring guitarist? Would you rather he was one of those metal shredders that don't even attempt to put any feeling or emotion in the notes they play?
Like I said, everybody's got the blues, it's just a matter of learning how to express it.
just know that there ARE metal shredders who put nothing but feeling and emotion into their music. i really hope you aren't trying to say that all metal shredders are like that.
you really should have watched the whole video before you shared your opinion... towards the end of the video he clearly covers that blues is playing from your heart and soul and thats the single most important thing in the genre itself
He's right about the soul; playing from gut. Watch all the great blues artists. Paul Kossoff; there is a guy that played from the gut relative to blues. Good presentation, dude. Thanks.
so you mean to tell me all the great blues players never had to learn anything about the blues? or work hard at what they did? they were just born with it? don't think so... all that matters is that you have a passion for what your doing... the heart comes in that way.
I never said that you don't have to work hard for it. In fact being a musician is one of the most hardest jobs there is. Though there is a difference in playing blues.
I mean maybe go see the documentary about B.B. king talking about Peter Green.. Might get you a little more understanding of what I try to tell you here
Lol let me guess MysteryHunterz. Blues is YOUR heart, you were born with them, and you have them.
What a useless comment. Of course you can learn it that's what I did, and everyone else did. lol. You can't just pick up a guitar first time and play the blues.
@MysteryHunterz True blues is very technical, and as for being "born with it", sorry dude, with practice and a real heart, anyone can be a true blues player
Never said you don;t need practise. However I do not understand how you could say that blues is very technical. It's everything but technical. I mean if you listen to heavy metal guitarists you hear alot of fast licks and solo's that are actually build up with scales. Heres the thing. Blues does not use scales. Thats why it has a free kinda style in it.
@MysteryHunterz Alright, not to sound like a dick, but our whole music system is based around scales, playing freely and not exactly knowing what you're doing does not mean you're not using a scale hahah
@MysteryHunterz Firstly, any heavy metal guitarist will tell you the roots of all metal is based off the blues scale, and the minor pentatonic. Secondly, yes, blues does use scales. Every great blues player (and every great guitar play in general) uses scales; some may not know what the scale is called, but if they are good and they stay in key, they are playing a scale. Robert Johnson could barely read and write, so don't use him as example. Every great contemporary knows their blues scales.
Why is Robert Johnson such a bad example? You actually state by saying that Robert Johnson could barely read and write, meaning to know blues scales you should be able to read at least. I wonder why Robert Johnson became such a big blues/delta blues legend if he couldnt possible or barely read. So he doesen't know what blues scales are, that is actually what you are saying, yet he was one of the best blues players that ever lived...
@MysteryHunterz You are saying that you don't need to know your scales to become a great blues player. You used Robert Johnson as an example; the guy who pretty much invented the blues. Yeah he was amazing. And although he likely didn''t know every crevice of theory, he knew it subconsciously.
You're basically trying to say that Robert Johnson and great blues players just hit random notes, and that's blues. No, there are laws to guitar. I'm sorry, it's math, clearly you don't get that.

i started on blues actually so i would imagine you wouldnt start on everest but maybe not
i never said blues is dumb either
i love blues
and the reason i love it is because you dont have limitations or difficult things in it
its easy to just pick up and play
the only requirement is that you put a little soul into it
so stop trying to act like blues is hard to play
its definately the simplest
