  • where's that guys been?

  • i would love to see him get a chance on a kick return for the pats, but he's to valuable.

  • A special teamer......HA!

  • Comment removed

  • D Mac is amazing!

  • @0211355 check out johnny patrick maybe we can get him in the second round early 3rd i hope he doesnt have an outstanding combine so he can fall to us

  • @jrock8693 check out jimmy smith he is most likely first round and check out this great pass rusher no one is talking about

Jabaal Sheard he could definitely go in the late second early third but if he has a great combine he will rise to early second

  • This year's best corner

  • no wonder this guy got invited to the probowl his rookie year of the nfl good pick patriots

  • Imagine what happens when Leigh Bodden comes back. Bodden and McCourty is a corner tandem that can give Revis and Cro a run for their money.

  • @SichanK they r going to draft a corner i dont like leigh bodden to much. he is a good zone corner but he cant man up with faster receivers

  • he was at my old schools football game today I got to meet him ^_^

  • (Cont.) So yeah, now QB supposebly pick on Butler and try to avoid Mccourthy.

Seriously no joke he reminds me a bit of Revis when he was at PITT. Though everyone agreed he was the best special team player in the draft, and BB drafted him thinking he is a 4 down player.

    Great pick, love the guy!

Hope he can win Defencive Rookie of the year, I have a feeling that this draft class is gonna be phenomenal

(Mccourthy, Gronkowski, Spikes, Cunningham, Hernandez, Price, Mesko) will be a big part

  • While i am a NEw england fan, i loved what i saw from D. Mccourthy. At first when the Pick was made at the draft i was scheptical, especially we needed a DE and had 2 cb in Bodden and Butler (Whcih looked awful yesterday agaitns teh Jets), so CB wasn't a priority in my mind.

But then i though hey the league is going in more 3 wide, adn we all know the nickel corner can get picked on like crazy. So then i started liking the mccourthy pick.

  • Haha, real nice kid, they both are, in my class in high school

  • If you get drafted by Bill in the first round, you know you are indeed something special, let's hope he delivers this year. This is the PATS year, Dallas here we come!

  • Soooo happy we got him, our secondary is a JOKE!

  • @KtownLAX how is it a joke when this guy will be a dimeback

  • @celts1984 Time to update your opinion on #32

  • @Holyw4ffl3 i was saying it was a postion of need, wasnt knocking him. besides no one had any clue he would be this good

  • @Holyw4ffl3 plus this was before boddens injury and there were still high hopes for butler

  • he can take jonathan wilhites spot in the secondary!!!!

  • @P4TRi0T5 More like Ty Law's

  • Patriots!!!!!!!

  • what song is this?? It's awesome!

  • what is this song called

  • welcome to the pats devin!!!

  • The Ty Law comparison is based on physical play, not saying McCourty is HOF material. Butler is more like Asante Samuel - good coverage, but lacks the total package of pass and run defense. 1 year from now, people will be talking about how McCourty was a great # 1 draft pick.

  • Ran a 4.38 and4.35 and 4.41

  • what song is this?

  • McCourty was a beast in college, plays zone which is big in a Belichick 3-4 defense, was by far and away the best special teams player and will compete with Darius Butler at CB on the left in camp this year. The Patriots put on a clinic in the draft. You are witnessing the slow build towards another stretch of Super Bowl runs.

  • @windtested i sure hopes so...i sure hope so

  • Devin is stiff and doesn't look fluid in his movements, but still could be a good fit for the Patriots, because they are able to make some seemingly average players better. I am not sold on him as a consistent corner in man coverage, but I doubt if New England would ever let a corner play cover 0. I don't watch them that much, but their team philosophy doesn't seem to fit with anything involving cover 0 - I'm glad they didn't take Kyle.

  • Devin McCourty = Ty Law. Good size 5 11, very physical, intelligent...will be a 1st rounder who gets his 2nd contract with the Pats in 2015. Great pick NE!

  • @rachellestephens...Ty Law really?,the clone of law is butler. This guy reminds me of a younger Deangelo Hall.

  • @rachellestephens hes a gud pick but ty law was the cb of his era lets nt go calling him a future HOF when he hasnt played a nfl snap yet..

  • His draft stock shot up because he ran a forty 5 hundredths of second faster than someone else, is that 90's mentality how their still drafting football athletes. A difference in a forty time could be if you decided to eat an IHOP breakfast instead of Wheaties.

  • Solid pick, LETS GO PATRIOTS!

  • dont worry this guy is a bad ass and he will do some damage this year under bill

  • Welcome to the New England Patriots Devin!

  • I think it's funny you try to discredit my logic with probably the least important detail of the argument, and a detail you had to manufacture because you have nothing. McCourty will start by year 2 and will play Corner in all 16 games this year as well as special teams. Oh, and Jerod Mayo started 12 of the 13 games he played in his rookie year and WON DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR. LawL. Keep Trying, you have nothing.

  • I must say that I am very satisfied with New England's picks

  • His special teams play is a bonus, bit it looks like hes gonna be inserted in nickel packages. Or if we play some of those crazy dime packages w/ linebackers and defensive backs. I wonder where Shawn Springs fits into this picture

  • And before you say "what about Patrick Chung from last years draft?" Chung was drafted the second pick of the second round. Heres the First round picks through the belicheck era: 2001 - Richard Seymour, 2002 - Daniel Graham, 2003 - Ty Warren, 2004 - Vince Wilfork, 2005 - Logan Mankins, 2006 - Laurence Marhoney, 2007 - Brandon Merriweather, 2008 - Jerod Mayo, 2009 (Chung 2nd round pick), 2010 - McCourty. POINT PROVEN. When you have something legitimate to back your assumption please tell. thnx

  • WELCOME TO NEW ENGLAND!

  • This kid is crazy fast, plus he went to Rutgers so he's got the kind of brains we need in N.E.

  • Devin McCourty will play special teams, but that isn't going to be his main role. He is a physical corner with big play abilitity. We are going to use him in multy corner blitz packadges, as well as nickle and dime coverage. By next season he will most likely be one of are starting corners with Butler on the other side. Both him and butler have TONS of upside and will be one of the best CB tandums in the game for years. Our Defense is going to be amazing this year!

  • Does any one think that McCourty can develop into an all star or was he a bad 1st round pick? Will he be like Ted Gin special teams his entire career?

  • what a move at 1:33 haha

  • Hey this was very nicely done! :D

  • he just might be the best corner for the patriots

  • @patriotsdude1 he'll be more of a special teams guy, not an imediate starter for the patriots

  • @2d181 he'll put up a pretty good competition and i think it's completely possible that he will be on the starting lineup probably at or before mid-season. I think they'll give him time to adjust to the speed of the game and the quarterbackzzz and then put him in

  • @patriotsdude1 yeah but we still have on of the better corners, leigh bodden, and the veteran springs plus butler proved himself at the end of the season last year. so i dont see mccorty being anything other than a special teams specialist or nickelback corner

  • @2d181 You really never know cuz a lot of people said that about Butler. Many people thought that he couldn't adjust to QBs in the league and would only be a special teams guy but he got a spot on the starting lineup.

  • @2d181 You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. McCourty is a physical corner and a tackling machine. You are crazy if you think we drafted him with our 1st round pick to play ST. Hes going to play part time in the field/ nickle/dime packadges and as a third reciever. By next season he'll be one of our 2 starting CBs. If not by the end of this year.

  • @kevg0la 3rd wr? no. he won't start. and yes he will be mainly used for st.

  • @2d181 Do you even watch football? Or Understand schemes and packages? And the fact that you think BB would use a first round pick for somebody that isn't even going to play/start? Have you ever even watched the Patriots? Since Belicheck took over, EVER SINGLE FIRST ROUND DRAFT CHOICE HE HAS MADE HAS BECOME A STARTER! But for some reason you have concocted in your mind this years draft is different and for the first time since the belicheck era started a 1st round choice isn't going to start?

  • @kevg0la 2006 bill drafted laurence maroney (didn't start that year), 2007 brandon meriweather (one of the best safetys in the league now, didn't start because they had rodney harrison and eugene wilson), 2008 jerod mayo (didn't start, tedi bruschi and mike vrabel i believe). so you're an idiot. plus, i know 'schemes' i play corner. and i've also watched the pats since i was six. with leigh bodden, shawn springs and darius butler, i'm positive mccorty wont start.

  • I said McCourty would most likely start next season. And I said that all of the Pats 1st round Picks were starters, NOT FIRST SEASON STARTERS, JUST STARTERS. Which every single one of them were. You still haven't make any valid point to why McCourty won't start for the Pats and why he'll only play Special Teams. Probably because you are just talking out of your ass and don't know d!ck. Everything I've said is valid and hold up, while you have said nothing factual nor compelling in any way.

  • @patriotsdude1 I think so as well. Two years in a row the Patriots took my favorite corner in the draft (Vikings fan, we got Cook...) I think Mccourty has a higher upside then Butler, and with Bodden and him on the outside with the playmaker Butler in the slot, and that great group of safeties in NE, look out.

  • Stud Special Teamer. Not seeing the cover corner skills though...

  • what is this song???

  • Welcome to New England! Let's GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • From Nanuet NY

  • Lets go Pats

  • Lets hope he turns into DEVIN HESTER on kick returns..... GO PATS...

  • @DrRummel more like david tyre on special teams and i'm friends with a lot the rutgers players cause my dad played there in the 80's anyway he says his greatest weakness is returns so i mean either way amazing corner

  • @DrRummel more like Ty Law at CB :))

  • *scratches head* wow?!....... i hope im wrong

  • Welcome to NE Devin!

  • I can't believe some of u "pats fans" are upset about this pick. I wanted dez Bryant and kindle too but but after lookn at this kid he seems like the perfect patriot, he can play zone, bump and run, CATCH THE BALL, blitz the QB, KR, PR, and block kicks?!! No wonder they fell in love wit this kid the pats are going to go from one of the worst pass defenses to one of the best.can't wait til tomorow let's go PATS CELTS BRUINS SOX!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Ryanlee7789 I agree, I was kind of pissed that they passed up on Bryant considering how old Moss is getting and the Knee injury to Welker but their D is not only young but hungry. I mean look at how well they did last year? Merriweather? Mayo...we still have Chung who is developing. It's only getting better and we still have a lot of picks left!

  • @PathofReason Two words: Danario Alexander.

  • i wonder if they expect much defensively out of him next year. before tonight i figured butler would be across from bodden and a 2 or 4 spent on a nickel corner. big upgrade in sub packages and special teams, might have to wait a couple years to see how this pans out as a first round defensive talent.

right now would have preferred bryant, kyle wilson, jerry hughes or sergo kindle, but mccourty is solid and dbs started flying around 9:45.

  • cant believe the pats chose this dude over dez bryant, i think im going to cry and im dead serious.

  • i think that he was a very strategic pick, they lacked KR and PR in the 2009 season, which is one thing BB is after. Also, he believes there is still a few great defenders/offenders left for the 2nd round (who knows he might trade-up). He can also block so some wierd PR plays for him? Crazy blitzes, punt blocks, and physicalness + great zone makes this kid great.

  • Is it possible there was no interest on a trade-out, so Belichick took the best available? I'm a little confused that we'd take a special teamer in the first round, even though he's undoubtedly talented.

Hopefully tomorrow brings some great complements to McCourty that make some sense to me.

  • Welcome to NE :)

  • This pick is a head scratcher. BB better score big in the 2nd round or I'm calling for his head.

  • With his speed and intangibles (intelligence) I see BB using him in blitz schemes. Could get interesting. Belichick has something up his sleeve for sure. Maybe McKenzie and Crable are finally able to go. You know how hush the patriots keep it.

  • at first i was pissed now i'm warming up to this kid. I love him now!!!

  • Nice to see that we finally get a physical corner who can tackle. byebye jonathan wilhite. McCourty will make sanchez cry next year love this pick

  • Welcome to New England

  • Welcome to the New England Patriots Devin McCourty.

  • WOW NE actually picked HIM....

  • @XxStrongSafetyxX THATS WHAT IM SAYIN..ESPN DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY....

  • ellis hobbs part2 smh

  • next patriot kick returner

  • I cannot believe what I just waited for hours to see. was NE afraid to lose him to another team before they got their three more picks in the second? I'm sure he's a solid player but "in the first round"?!!!!!!

    absolutely crazy pick.

  • Welcome to New England

  • i cant beleve dey picked dis bum

  • welcome to NE

  • welcome to the patriots baby

  • JETS BABY!!

  • To all the Vikings fans who want this guy hear me out. The difference between cornerbacks at pick 30 and pick 62 is barelly nothing. The DB pool is deep this year. I like Devin McCourty as well as Patrick Robinson but as a Vikings fan I know we need that franchise QB to compete with the Packers, Bears, and even the Lions in the immediate upcoming seasons so I say we take Tim Tebow at 30 and Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, CB, Indiana at 62.

  • @millertime6888 no way to tim tebow .. vikings have a team that will need a passer , if anything they need to get colt Mccoy .. he has a arm and is deadly accurate .. tim tebow will do good but he wont fit in to the vikings scheme

  • @TXkingMN I disagree, respectfully of course, on a lot of things you said. First I don't believe the Vikings will ever be a team that needs a passer type of QB. Our identity will always be a strong rushing team as long as we have Adrian Peterson, fumbles or not. Second, McCoy wouldn't be a bad pick at 30 either but he doesn't have "a arm" as you put it. That's one of his weaknesses actually is arm strength. He is very accurate though.

  • @millertime6888 well u saw the last 3 years without a true passer how the team does .. bret is a great qb and now u see what a true passer does for a strong running team .. u put tebow in that team u will destroy what they have .. tim tebow is best fit is a team like the panthers or a great coach ... i know when draft day comes im hoping for colt mccoy .. especially if bret comes back

  • @TXkingMN I'm assuming your a Texas/Vikings fan by the name & I don't hate McCoy actually I think he is a lot like Tebow. I'de take either but I still think Tebow is better in everything it takes to be a QB in the NFL though. The intangibles, leadership, coachability, reading a defense, calm under pressure, smart decision maker, plus flexability to play other positions if he does fail at QB. He's working hard to fix his throwing motion (and isn't the first to have to do so i.e. Aaron Rodgers)

  • @millertime6888 idk how u can say tebow is a better qb than colt ... colt had better stats and his leadership is better than tebows.. mcccoy has been the leader since his freshman year and tebow needed a loss for him to step up ... mccoys only problem is avoiding the sacks . and tebow is rebuilding his whole arsenal . my name is cuz i was born in texas and now live in minn but i do like all three teams from those two states .. yes

  • @TXkingMN I don't think Colt has better leadership then Tebow and plus Tebow played in the SEC against SEC defenses not Big XII

I don't think we'll take either to be honest but I'de rather have Tebow. I think he's going to be the better pro.

    1 day. :)

  • My Lions need a corner back big time, too. I'd be tempted to grab this guy or Patrick Robinson at # 34, but how can we pass on Jahvid Best if he is still on the board? We need a left tackle for the future, too.

  • @hirofan Don't forget you might be reuniting Albert Haynesworth with KVB and Jim Schwartz, might take your 2nd round pick.

  • @millertime6888 I'd love Haynesworth, but I want to see how Sammie Lee

Hill progresses playing next to Suh.

The Lions wanted Kyle Wilson, McCourty, or Best. When both Wilson and

Mc Courty were off the board we immediately traded up to grab Best.

  • tony2crunk, you are a moron. I hope your under 12 years old. This guy makes alot of sense for the eagles with 1 of their 2nd day picks. Dick jauron and bobby april would love that guys skill set.

  • easy jermaine, deep down you know hes comin to the ravens and tehn we're gunna win the super bowl with flacco boldin and rice on offence

  • All u of u can sit back he's comin to the PACKERS

  • Come on vikings!!!!!!!!!

  • @tizucker thats right lets hope he is there for the vikings to pick

  • Eagles trade down in the first and grab this guy.

  • eagles all day baby !! mcnabb don't want it !

  • @FIZZUM actually D-Nabb is gona kill u guys.. lol stupid ass eagles organization, fans and lame ass city lol idiots

  • hes comin to the Lions in the 2nd round

  • Vikings!!! please

  • Vikings baby!!!

  • first RD pick to be, RU producing some great players lately.
