  • Curiously, those who complain about pollution from electric cars & hybrids don't actually give a shit about carbon output or climate change - they just think they have a valid argument against these vehicles. They don't however, as even a simple Google search will show.

  • Hey Tom, WAY TO GO, we all should follow YOU!!! You are my STAR!!!! Thank you. 1-ev.com

  • wish I could afford a electric conversion for my honda crx, it has a huge trunk just for batteries, has no electric features and weighs 1800lbs, I already get 55mpg on a 1991 car

  • @Brendon00000 The first test bed conversion AC Propulsion did was a 92 Civic. See my other videos.

  • Groovy Tom....but we cant afford these luxaries like you can. How about donating 20 of these to people who can't afford them...and then we can use them to promote the car to people who can....and then they can pay it forward. I still think he sounds like Robert Downey Jr and Brian Ben-Ben.....whatever happened to that bastard??

  • "were back"

  • Electric cars are a solution for nothing.

  • Hi. I have a couple of Ural 4320s. One's just your straight 11ltr utility truck but I'm adapting the other one for my Agni-TD two stage missile with solid booster and liquid fuelled second stage. I know the Ural isn't ideal for the job but it's the best I could get at short notice. I'd appreciate any tips on optimizing the oxidizer propellant (currently ammonium nitrate) and nozzle efficiency (stage 2). Anyone got any thoughts on tetranitromethane? Thanks in advance.

  • x-box opsss e-box

  • lol "Whats the range on one of these things?"

    then he gets overtaken...

  • I know exactly how good Tom Hanks feels by driving a zero-emissions vehicle. I work only 4 miles away from home and I have an electric scooter to commute. It is safe, easy to use, very affordable and totally electric. It is also very quiet and it takes only about 3 cents to fully charge the battery. But most important is that driving my scooter makes me feel really good for not be sitting on a air polluter vehicle. That gives me a great sensation!

  • we need more of these cars...so what if you have to plug in to juice up..would you rather go broke paying for gas?

  • When your worth north of $300 million dollars it's no wonder hanks ,obama and okrah can afford these mf'ers

  • cost is not the issue here my youtube friend...

availability is the issue. where in the united states can the average joe actually get a 100% EV ???

the minute these EV cars become mass produced... you can bet the numbers of cars purchased will be an all-time world-record, and oh yea, imagine what our carbon footprint would shrink to.

Major props Tom (again) for sharing with us whats really up with these cars. Too bad they took your EV-1 away from you, you seemed to really like that car

  • 100-120 miles per charge.. Pshhh that sucks how u spose to go to San Diego.... go 120 miles, and stop for the night? yea right..

  • Go back to playing video games.

  • @tsport100 i will...lol good vid

  • well, if you have to go over 100 miles yeah, take a different type of transportation (gas car or what not)

but heck, I don't drive 100 miles in a day (I live 10 minutes from work) and I'd REALLY like something like this

  • Uhhh....You charge it at the electric charging station? There are already some out there.

When the gasoline car first came out, people said how are we going to fuel up? What else did they do but build gas stations. With electricity you build electric stations. Charging will only takes 20 minutes. Enough time for you to read a magazine or watch TV. With technology improving, it may take less than 10 minutes.

  • I dont need an electric car.. I have an Opel Astra 1.6 16valve engine with 100hp, and 150Nm torque.. My negative record was 5,7liters/100km-s on open road, with 4 passangers+baggage, and with an average speed of 110-120km/h-s.. I guess thats not bad! But you guys in america sure need them eletric cars! You really should change your "petrolcemetery" V8-ths to one of theese :-))

  • Gonna have to burst your bubble kid.

ANY ICE is only 15% energy efficient, so 85% of what you hand over to the oil companies when you fill the tank is waited as un-usable heat, that's a fact!

An EV uses roughly 10kw/hr per 100 kms so look at you electric bill to see how little that costs. 10kw/hr x $0.10 per kw/hr = $1.00. Even 5.7 litres of petrol costs 10x as much if you're in Europe.

A gutless 1.6lt Astra does 0-60 in about 12-13 second, an EV can do 0-60 in 3 seconds LOL.

  • omg u should get youtube partneydhip

  • <3 Tom Hanks but how much does all that cost? He's loaded.

  • Can somebody convert my 2002 audi a4 to ev? contact me.

  • I ust read an article that there are a few companies that are selling conversion kits. One of these is in Watertown Ma. If you google car electric conversion kits you may be able to locate the article. If I come acroos it I'll post here the link. Some of these kits say thelabor is only a few hours with basic tools.

  • Electric cars are usually gas cars that have blown engines. I have seen electric trucks, motor cycles, bicycles, I would love to get the new electric recumbent cycle it is white I have a video in my favorites. The so called poor can afford if you have great credit. I want a dome home but have to save the entire construction cost becasue a bank will not lend they need an example so I will build one then they will have their damm example. I hate it I had to rebuild the trailer $10k pissed away.

  • First you have to buy the Scion Xd for

    17 Grand.

Then you have to shell out another 55 Grand

for them to gut the ICE and convert to EV.

    kind of expensive.

Other EVs to Google: Zap Alias, Aptera.

  • We're talking about an actual driving car here, not some CGI picture you can put a 'reservation' on.

Brand new cars depreciate 30% by the end of their 1st year, so start with a 2nd hand Scion. You can EASILY offset the purchase price of the conversion by the fact that it's 95% cheaper to run. If you do the average 20,000 miles a year you'll save $6000 a yr just by never going to a fuel pump. Over a 10-15 yrs life of a car that's a $60-90,000 saving and an EV will last ALOT longer than 15 yrs.

  • robotnik77, go watch your phat oistrakh videos

  • Where in the world did you get that $55,000 figure from? I could see Tom Hanks spending that to trick his xB out to his specifications, but for basic around town motoring, I don't believe I've seen/read about that much being spent.

  • This EV converted car is sold by AC propulsion, check their site out for more info and price. The figure quoted is about what they're asking!

  • yeah, I agree with lamark111--Only the rich can afford to drive electric cars right now.

  • I drive one and I'm certainly not dripping with cash. Gas here is over $5 a gallon, that's my motive.

  • And here in Aus, just the other day I got to spend $1.80 Aus per litre (about $6.60 US a gallon.)

    Hurrah ;-)

  • Where in AU was that?

It's over $10 a gallon in most of Europe but fuel has always been extremely expensive over there. A 'big block' in the UK is a 2 LT while here in Aust we all drive 3 to 6 LT cars.

  • I am in Perth. I'm not sure what it has been averaging lately, between AU$1.70 and $1.80 a litre or so.

I do manage to get through a tank per week (an older car that I'm re-doing the ignition on - which will help a little) which means $90 / week

  • Thanks Tom for supporting the EVangelist Move!

HEY!! maybe you could show off the car at one of your movies, that would REALLY show evryone that the tecnology works!!

  • I am so happy to see Tom Hanks behind this technology. Tom seems to be a wonderful man and everything he gets behind seems to capture the attention of the public. Please don't let them kill the electric car again.

  • the best EV ever made. room for stuff and people, long lasting lithium batteries.

I hope I can afford one soon.

  • i love tom hank! Tom kocham CIEEEE

  • maybe prius plug-in 29.000 $ could be half price of e-box and better car ??

  • 13,000 $ new car + 55,000 $ conversion kit make 68,000 $. Nice idea the electric car, but we are not that rich.

  • Granted, the AC Propulsion cost sounds high, but you're happy to pay $50,000 just on petrol over the life of a car (10 yrs) -not including service and repair- by which time the ICE car is usually a smoldering wreck worth maybe 5% it's purchase price basically because an ICE converts 85% of the power it consumes into heat and slowly eats itself alive as you drive it.

  • ya, but still that costs more than our house & land. but the technology is new... I remember thinking, 'man, i'll never afford a flat screen tv/a dvd player/a vcr/a cassette walkman...' plus here in canada the gov'nt likes to give 'rebates' for low energy consumption purchases so you never know, eh?

  • he said xbox hehehe

  • I would say the same thing!!

  • Fantastic stuff! Good on you Tom Hanks!
