Iran is such a bent country, even my Iranian friends agree. Its a country runs by loonies intent on causing problems and friction rather than peace, thats the simple truth
@mancity1000 The Iranians aren't responsible for the tensions and frictions in the Middle East that we have witnessed over the last few decades. I suggest you refer to the historical record.
As for your loonies comment, I can think of quite a few who occupied 10 Downing Street and the Oval Office.
@mingoi313 Hmm.. As a honest, balanced person I cannot agree with that assertion. I'm guessing your Iranian?? Obtaining nuclear weapons is going to cause more problems in an already volatile region. True, Britain and US do things I do not agree with (i.e over-support Israel or the Iraq War) but I'm afraid, judging from recent events in Iran, I cannot support the view that Iran is a peace seeking nation. And Ahmadinejad is a bit of a looney, thats the truth
@mancity1000 You see it has become quite a widespread profession in the media in our times, to build seamless narratives founded on assumption after assumption. The only recognized body that is responsible for overseeing whether any country is carrying out a nuclear weaponization or a nuclear project (full stop) is the IAEA. To date, the IAEA has found no evidence of a nuclear weapons project in Iran.
@mingoi313 1. Iran, one of the highest producers of oil want nuclear for 'energy'? It does not make sense and to anyone with a brain, that would seem shady to say the least 2. Post-election violence? The only reason why that happens is because electoral fraud has occured. You never see it in the UK or US, so why election violence in Iran?
@mancity1000 Did you know that during the Ford administration a study was carried out which concluded that in a couple of decades, Iran would be a net IMPORTER of energy? The Iranian nuclear program began in the mid-70s - before the revolution. Why did the West support the nuclear program in Iran in the mid 70s, and then stopped right after the revolution? Did they not have the oil you speak of then?
Repeating slogans and media cliches is not very useful. One should refer, instead, to facts.
@mancity1000 2. The US and UK, by luck or fate, do not have outsider nations seeking to overthrow their regimes. The US dedicates billions each year to support anti-government elements, and makes no secret of its 'regime change' driven motivations. Have a a look at the Venezuela case.
Mousavi declared victory before the ballots were counted. When they disclosed that he had in fact lost, he cried wolf and claimed fraud. Why didn't he mention fraud when he omnisciently declared himself victor?
@mancity1000 first of all iranians has gaze not oil !! and they have the fouth biggest reserve, you're judging them for their intention which you clain to be aware of! iranians should have nuclear bombs, it will be stupid not to have them, see what happened to iraq? this happened cause they had no bombs, plus iranians doesn't care about what americans or europians might say, they're a free nation not like A.S, UAE Egypt etc most corrupt govs on earth but still supported and protected by usa
@toohnooch iran has the 4th largest oil reserves in the world, and 2nd largest natural gas reserves in the world, i dunno where u got ur numbers form, so iran has alot of both oil and gas, 2nd of all iran is not a free nation, very few iranians will tell u that iran is a "free" nation, free nations do not have rigged elections, free nations do not open fire on their own people from rooftops, free nations do not torture their own citzizens, free nations do not force ppl to wear certain clothes
@tupacIzAlive33 first of all tupac isn't alive, i know iran and all the regimes in this region , not a europian or american that will tell me how it is in my region all the muslims love iran, if all the regimes in our region are like iran no more usa nato soldiers will be left here , when Iran as a country was a shithole we as its neighbours was the first to cretisis it, now after the blessed revolution all sects in middle east has nothing against it, usa should fight it's wars home (USA)
@toohnooch im iranian stupid fuck. I do not support any of USA's actions but that does not mean i support the regime which kills its own people, We are not talking about Nato or USA or any of that stuff. We are talking about the regimes behavior towards its own people. Shooting into crowds of unarmed peop[le from rooftops with assault rifles, mass rapes, mass tortures, the people in Iran are not aligned witht he government right now. They do not support them.
@tupacIzAlive33 well i am not an Iranian but i love true Iranians not dummies like you, the truth is Iran and its regime are still here and the whole world care about what they think or want , not some stupid puppet like you that might be used by others against Iran LIKE ABDURAHEEM REEGUEE if you don't like Iran that much go to Israel and you'll be treated like shit youdesrve it may god bless and protect Iran
@mancity1000 Secondly, I would suggest you look at this story of Iran getting nuclear weapons within a timeline of years. It has been there since the 1990s. In those days, there were reports from Washington and some European capitals that Iran would have nuclear weapons within 5 years; some went for a ticking bomb within 24 months. We're now in 2010, there is still no evidence, and the same story is doing the rounds. If you want any resources to go through, let me know; I'd be more than happy.
As for post-elections violence, there are again many parallels with other nations. The staged incidents immediately prior to the coup attempt in Venezuela in 2002 are instructive to investigate. Look into the Neda Agha Soltan story; I'm sure you'll get some videos on YouTube.
There are definitely grievances within sections of the populace. Yet Mousavi and Karroubi have to date failed to provide evidence for extensive electoral fraud. Google for "Ahmedinejad; Duly Elected President of Iran".
First of all, did you know that he is name Dr. Larijani it is equal to PhD and he is not the only Islamic Republic top leader who has such title but non of them understand and speak English!? These are animals ruling peaceful Iranians and they have one goal and that is to make us all Muslim and atomic bomb is the best tool to terrorize the World with it, don't believe one words of them.
they are all able to speak english. The reason why they do not speak english is to maintain national sovereignty, in the sense that, why should they be able to speak english when they are persian speaking persians.
Ahmadinejad at Columbia University, "one by one please!"
Larijani is the "educated" (if you know what I mean) of the Islamic Republic. If this is how much English he can speak (which is none), what can you expect from mullahs?
Yek abhosekesh az in beesavada ke akhiran diplome Oxford forge karde boodan behtar English harf mizane.
I don't understand why people bag on mullahs or Islam in general. Yes, there are corrupt people in government but that can be said everywhere. No government is good, especially when you have a sort of theocratic type of government, but it definitely better than the type we see here in the west. Actually, Larijani speaks very well english, in addition to arabic, azari, and farsi.
You really have to be deluded to believe than there is more democracy in Iran than there is in the West. To accelerate the revolution, it was the mullahs and the Islamists that burned down Cinema Rex in Abadan and burned alive 500+ people. They knew that the atmosphere was one that would blame it on the Shah. It was mullah Khalkali and Lajevardi at Evin Prison who executed some 30,000 political prisoners in the early days of the Islamic Republic.
Iran stands at the top for passing the greatest number of executions on children under 18.
This government has reduced the people of Iran, the children of Cyrus and Darius, a people with a glorious past, to nothing. Are you, as an Iranian, whose descendants were once masters of the region, so lowly that you need to get your morals from Arab tribal customs (that is, Islam)? You should be teaching the Arabs, not the other way around.
After all that this government has done, are you still going to champion for them? If you don't see (perhaps don't want to see) that these charlatans and their Islam have destroyed Iran single-handedly with the help of the former Carter administration, then I don't know what else to say. I am speechless.
You really think that Islam is fighting with the West? You may not see this because I think you may have faith in Islam, but the West wants the former Persian Empire to be in its reduced form, they want the people of Iran to remain Muslims and believe in religious superstition because they want to keep Iran backward, and Islam is the perfect way to do that. The day Iranians wake up and embrace their pre-Islamic past, Iran will be a competition for the U.S., England, France, Germany, etc...
I don't think Islam is fighting with the west. I think the west is fighting with Islam. former Persian Empire, pre-islamic iran...religious superstition?? I don't know what fairy tales and stories your daddy has been telling you but it is with Islam that iran has become strong. or by that token any country in the middle east. before islam, iranians were fire worshippers. i think your one of those low life exilees.
I would rather worship fire than to worship a fucking pedophile like Muhammad. The West has every right to fight Islam because this is a war that the Muslims started a long time ago. This war has been going on for the last 1400 years. Iran is strong with Islam? I suggest you take out a map of the former Persian Empire and find out for yourself that pre-Islamic Iran stretched across three continents.
You're not even what you claim to be: a Muslim. You are nothing more than an Arab worshipper!
Simple minded individuals like you lack the aptitudes that are assumed to be inherently in place for those with middle school level ability.
You speak of the West as if it is a unified, monolithic body. I will not take you back to pre-Renaissance lest I lead you to an epistemological overload. But for the sake human intellection, kindly recall that the bloodiest wars witnessed in the history of humanity involved purely, or largely, Western ..
Belligerent, don't try to change the subject. The discussion was focused on Lirijani and the Islamic Republic to begin with. The two world wars don't have anything to do with what's happening right now in the 21st century in the Islamic world. This is exactly what Muslims are good at doing. Instead of responding to criticism in a mature manner and admitting that they have and are committing crimes just like the rest of the world, they quickly point to somebody else's crimes to dodge response.
Pointing to someone else when you are criticised is analogous to pointing to other murderers when you are convicted of murder. Not all crimes in history have been committed by Muslims, but Muslims certainly have committed some of the most atrocious crimes in history: the Islamic conquests, Ottomon genocide of 1.5 million Armenians, Safavid genocide of 1 million Zoroastrians, the Mufti of Jerusalem and the rest of the Arab world who were close allies of Nazi Germany, the Bosnian SS Muslim army...
Refer to the earlier comment. Your knowledge of history is diabolical. Please have some sense of respect for even that little sanctity that you furnish to human intelligence.
It is also worth highlighting, the duplicitous standards you're using in your style of argument. But then again, it's much expected.
Don't try and tie in the Arab world with Nazis. Do you see the Taliban flying over Telaviv like the Blitz ? Look at Lebanon in the 80's when Israeli backed groups slaughtered thousands of civilians in refugee camps while Israelis looked on. If you think Muslims caused some of the worst crimes then you are sadly mistaken. You are from the US and claiming this, so obviously you have no intrest in the dirty secrest your government have concerning Iran in the 50's. Illegal war with Iraq ? Get real
the explosion of the PanAmerican airliner over Scotland (that airliner was a passenger airliner--everyone dead were civilians), Khomeini, Khalkhali...The list goes on...Shall I continue? In Saudi Arabia, they still cut off arms for robbery and honor killings and stonings still take place in the Islamic world. Do I need to point out that the Islamic regime in Iran burned down a cinema in Iran during the last days of the Shah's reign to accelerate the revolution? 430 people were burned alive !!
The plane over Scotland was actually bombed by Libya; but again pseudo-historians. :D
Of course, someone like you will not remember that when it comes to civilian planes, it was the US that bombed an Iranian civilian aeroplane: Iran Air Flight 655 killing all 290 passengers.
As for Saudi Arabia, it's at war with Iran albeit covert.
The cinema incident, did you know there were LEFTISTS in the revolutionary side. Ever heard of Hizb Tudeh (Marxist)? May be not.
Additionally, it seems that these Western paradigms whom you speak of, apart from killing each other, were pretty apt at using "ends justify means" to lapdance with some of the very antagonists whom you despise.
Zbigniew Brzezinski went to the mountains of Afghanistan and urged its "noble" men to carry out a "Jihad" against the evil Soviets. The same experience was later repeated in Bosnia, with European intelligence services involved.
For one who lacks the most basic grounding in modern history, it is no wonder that you resort to expletives and imaginary characterisations to speak of a period that would evidently ask to extend your abilities way beyond those limits - out of necessity or experience - that restrain those within your band in the intellectual spectrum.
If you love the forces of Islam so much and the Islamic Republic, what the heck are you doing in the U.S.? Are you one of those Iranians who just have too much ego to admit that the U.S. has given them everything that their own country wouldn't have given them in a lifetime? Are you one of those Iranians who live in this country and wouldn't want to go anywhere else and yet, secretly wish for this country's destruction?
Get back to fucking Islamic Iran and show them your loyalty, loser!

May be not.
Pick up a book or two. :)

belligerents. Refer to the two world wars.

[Part 3]

Larijani speaks very eloquently, too bad his translator destroys that eloquence in his english rendition of what he says. Jon Snow needs to hire a better farsi translator
