This song was written by a Chinese in 1940. The lyrics praise rose for its thorny beauty in summer and its tenacity through thunderstorms. The English lyrics are very different: they are about a charming Oriental girl named Rose. Note “make way, make way” sound like “玫瑰, 玫瑰” in Chinese which exactly mean “Rose, Rose”. If using those words is by chance, it would be a very interesting coincidence! While the original was sung by a female, this version is beautifully presented by a male voice. A+
I appreciate you commenting on this video cause it just comes to show in some way you were interested. Now even if I am infuriated by your comment, I will not delete this cause I want people to see how much of a fucking ass you are for ranting over a very innocent karaoke track. You're the bigger fool
Some of the words on the screen are wrong. It's "you can (not can't) hear them say." And it's "I leave (not plead) my heart." At least that's how I sang it when I copied Frankie Laine's version, and I checked on a website that gave the lyrics and I was correct.
Hi thanks for your feedback I know some lyrics are wrong but I cannot change them. But thanks though and you have been very gracious with your comment. Hope you have a good day
After reading the wikipedia article on Rose Chan, I would agree that the lyric of this song is about her. "Flower of Malaya", "her rickshaw in the cabaret". The two references is more that coincidence given that Rose was so famous in Malaya back then.
hey that's awesome!!! Also, the place I go to for karaoke doesn't have pictures on the screens like that, just the writing against a flat blue or yellow background.
That is not the voice of Frankie Laine. His voice is much deeper. The singer does a good job at singing it. This song has been a favorite of mine for a long time.
I love this song...

No offense but I like the Chinese version better. The one in the Jackie Chan movie Called "Miracles" aka Black Dragon was really good.

@09tranm I understand my friend. I have heard the Chinese version and it's grander and more elaborate :-=)

I still have it on vhs along with every other old school jackie chan movie!
Yep I think anita mui's version from that film is still the best aswell this version doesn't do the song justice IMHO!

this is the dumbest video to go with this song that anybody could ever think up.
Unless it is trying make a point of the difference between the nut brown almond eyed Rose and this stuck up chalky looking round eyed bitch.
To whoever put this on -- you've never been there, have you?
You just don't know, do you?
