I miss the old days when you could watch any of these cartoons in syndication. (way before Nickelodeon, Toon Disney and Cartoon Network.) I remember coming home from school, turning on the TV and watching Divorce Court, then cartoons like Woody Wood Pecker or Popye or whatever in a two hour block, then a re-run of "I love Lucy" or "The Munsters."
Closest thing to syndicated cartoons now are Family Guy and the Simpsons.
Ahh now that was the good old days Saturday morning cartoons. Not this crap from The Sprouse twins and What happened to that cute little Raven Symone from Cosby?
Man, that was like seeing for the first time again. That Booby Trap game was availble at Woolco, they must of went out of business over thirty plus years ago. Growing up in the 70s and 80s was very cool.
Kids today--they don't understand why growing up in the 70's and early 80's was so cool.
Thank you, kind sir, for this awesome televisual feast. The inclusion of the Fat Chance and Booby Trap commercials alone ought to earn you a special place in heaven.
Yes, Dr. Don Rose, a former radio DJ from the 60s and 70s, who was the announcer on several of the Field stations in the late 1970s and early 1980s (on WFLD from 1978 to 1983, I believe). I was fortunate enough to exchange a couple of e-mails with Dr. Don before he passed away some years ago from complications of diabetes. A class act and a Christian man of faith. RIP
Just did a web search. Dr. Don passed away March 30, 2005. Seems longer ago than that. Also learned Dick Sainte of the "Dick & Doug" team (with Doug Dahlgren) also is no longer with us. RIP
That's sad. I didn't know he died 2 years ago. Also Do you also have more SCS Bumpers other than Tom and Jerry? Fuzzymemories has some great ones with the clock, but also like the ones with the announcers with the clock and without.
This is not from my collection...a friend provided it and I think it was on the end of a tape of something else. Yeah, I've seen that stuff and it's cool to see again!
Bummer. I was gonna ask if you or your friend has anything else in his Collection. Also in a need for WFLD's "Snipets" that they usually Showin 1977-1983
@karaloyal AND KBHK-TV 44. I was acquainted with the good Doctor...I worked with his son Dan for a number of years. While I miss him (as do many others), he's in a FAR better place now! RIP Dr. Don.
No not that I recall Ch. 32's lineup in the morning consisted of Mighty Mouse, The Flintstones, Great Space Coaster, (Still use no Gnu's is good Gnu's whatsoever) Tom & Jerry, and Popeye, He Man Popeye Banana Splits Underdog, and Magilla Gorilla was on in the Lunch hour and afternoons
Just finally watched it...my educated guess is this stuff is from the 1978-1979 season. This is my latent geeky side coming out here, so bear with me...the S-C-S lineup that season was (from 7 to 9 AM): Woody Woodpecker / Tom & Jerry / Popeye / Fred Flintstone & Friends (compilation series with segments of "Pebbles & Bamm Bamm" and "The Flintstone Comedy Show" along with other early 70s Hanna-Barbera material. The following season, Popeye was expanded to one hour.
It has to be pre-1980 (best as I can recall, anyway), since the end title is intact on the Woody Woodpecker short and Channel 32's own station-created show closing is present. I seem to recall that around 1980 (but don't take that date as gospel), they streamlined things and chopped off most of the openings and closings of their cartoons, and stopped running the individual station-created show openings. I think this might be when the educational filler shorts disappeared too.
Also, "Super Cartoon Sunrise" premiered in the fall of 1978. Prior to that, Channel 32 didn't even sign on the air on weekdays until around 10:30 AM! (Seems hard to imagine today, doesn't it?) As I recall, they did do "Super Cartoon SUNDAY" before that, though.
Boobi Trap? That's almost like Perfection.
