I'm a fan of block and v8 supercars, great to see! I think if the V8 supercar was running even remotely drag race gearing, it would be a different outcome. Those things are terrrible off the line with the 2.x:1 gearing. The supercars have 9 second potential. Did anyone get the actual ET/MPH of this race?

Ken Block's car is a stripped Ford Fiesta with 2 turbos I don't think it would cost that much. And Jamie Whincup's car is a Holden Commodore not and Audi R8.

@tbtstt I read on an Unofficial website that it has 2. I know the rally car has 1 because of WRC regulations. There's no way his Gymkhana car can produce up to 850hp on 1 turbo and still have that much power with no lag coming out of a corner.

@throwaben The bespoke Gymkhana Fiesta ("GYM3" - which is what it looks like he is using here) produces 650 BHP, not 850.

The only version of the Fiesta producing that level of power is the Fiesta which OMSE ran at Pikes Peak, that was around 850. Again though, 2.0L engine, single turbo, incredibly high levels of boost and an extremely aggressive anti-lag setup.

That level of power is possible when component life isn't an issue.

@throwaben its called an anti-lag setup it one of the reasons you hear a ton of backfires coming from rallycross/rallycars and yes the 2.0l durtec has been built with 850hp on a single turbo. ken had his tuned down for the type of driving he wanted

@vadimyuryev Depending on what currency DrJellydude is talking about, his estimate isn't that far off, though its definately a big high. The Division 1 rallycross cars (upon which all of Block's Fiesta's except the "HFHV" have been based) are reckoned to cost around £250,000 each, which would be about $400,000.

Don't know where he has got the Audi R8 from though! :D
