Actually it doesn't look like it goes anywhere near as fast as an EVO or some other turbo-charged buzz-box, and they don't have an exhaust note that you can hear a mile before it gets there.

If you count it, its 0-60 in 8 seconds, not bad considering the standard defender using the 2.4 diesel needs almost twice that!

Would like to see hoe it performed with JE Engineerings 'Zulu' engine (4.2 supercharged v8) supposedly has 450bhp!

wheres the fun in that! THis is a great piece of kit and I have seen a lot of RPI's engine work and trust me this is well under 10 seconds.........more like 6 seconds. And for your information the fastest diesel golf, which is the 170 DSG GT Sport, does 0-60 in 8.2 seconds....if you're lucky. A 15 year old GTi will still only do it in 8.4 seconds and the diesel, well I think you would be lucky to get to 60 in 15 seconds. Next time you comment on a video ensure you know what you are talking about

This poor reception from the American public wasn't due at all to its performance as an engine, but to prejudice against its all-alloy construction at a time when cast-iron blocks were preferred. By the way, 4.6 litres = 280 cui, therefore there is no comparison to be drawn.

Actually the MPG is improved over standard, as power comes through efficiency. And as the engine no longer needs to work as hard to get what you want from it, it therefore use's less fuel, due to not working so hard as there is so much torque low down now.

However when driven hard the MPG does drop, but one thing is for sure, the customer is certainly not complaining;-)
