i have a chihuahua she was diagnosed with parvo yersterday now she's depressed and doesnt want to eat at all im doing all of the home remedies because i cant afford the vet hospitalization she doesnt have her belly sunked in because i keep her hydrated with pedialite but now she has a strong odor coming out of her mouth and the rear is this bad?

@brittanic123 my 13 week old pitbull and german sheapord was taken yesterday morning from parvo he waas doin the same thing we tryed everything,,,gatorade, helped alot i stayed up all night forcing him to drink gatorade every 10 mins and he was doi so much better then it just turned fior the worse R.I.P BRYSON <3

@12Biitch0Facee9 im sorry to hear that but it should of been much better to give him pedialite because gatorade kills dogs with the virus this is what im doing pedialite given with syringe, a little chicken broth some water then wait two or three days then if the puppy or dog keeps that in then start giving boiled chicken with no salt or fat hope this helps others and hope it helps my chihuahua MAYA STAND STRONG <3

my 12 week old puppy (Dexter) was diagnosed with parvo today, i cant afford to have him treated at the vet, so the vet gave him a antibiotic shot and a anti vomit shot, i've been giving him pedialyte, Gatorade, and pedisure every hour, but he still wont eat, after just 11 hours hes drinking on his own and up moving around a little, he still wags his tail so we know that Dexter is still there, we have our hopes up :)

This is truly a hard thing to face my 8month old puppy precious is fighting parvo right now! We took her to our awesome vet who only charged us $125 for at home treatment. Precious is on day 6 and now eating & drinking on her own!!! She is my wonderful lil fighter and is almost back to my normal lil happy puppy wuppy!!!! I am so happy for copper these lil buddies become part of your family and i'm very happy you found help in time for your beautiful buddy!!!!!!!!!!!

My dogs name is copper 2 :) shes a german shepard lab mix she looks like a baby german shepard with floppy ears but if u ignore her or yell at her she'll just go lie down and pout :|

@OceanmistSupporter yea my dog jus got parvo nd im so sad ... i took him to the vet just for them took look at him was $100, they gave me pills that was another $100 but they said it might not work that he need treatment .. but it cost 1200 :( ihate seeing my dog suffer :( idk wut to do ?

Awesome success story - My puppy was diagnosed with parvo yesterday and we couldnt afford to have him stay there but our vet has been really supportive with giving us advice on how to care for him at home. I have been up all night feeding him pedialyte through a syringe on top of his anitbiotics etc. He is alot more responsive today so hoepfully he will get better. I am so happy to see such great success stories - Keeps me motivated. I hope you didnt take ur dog bak the vet who refuse you. :)

Yeah it was pretty Sick they basically were watching him Die for like 2 days and then when we got the money they acted like they were being helpful when they knew he might not make it although he did.

Yeah, I remember in 1992, I had my first dog and he pooped blood when I took him to the vet. They put him down the next day. I'm very glad Cooper survived.

PS I heard if you force Gatorade down their throats it will save them, but I'm not so sure about that.

Sorry for the month later reaponce! Anyway, the past week I have been treating my german shepard for parvo. He is 13 weeks. Gatorade works weel cause of the electrolytes. The most important thing in treatimg parvo is keeping the dog hydrated. It is'n the parvo that kills them. It is the dehydration. Tresting a dog for this sickness has been a very tough week. Antibiotics and an IV is what actually kept him alive. He is doin better though!

gatorade does good, but pedialite works better.

gatorade has too much sugar in it.

and to elmondae giving them a small dose of pedialite every hour is best, forcing them to down alot isnt good. yur trying to sneak in the fluids so they wont throw it bakk out.
