  • My Great Grandfather Arthur was in World War 2. He operated one of them turret type guns, and he never talked to anyone about the War, except for a little bit before he passed away. And I had a neighbor a long time ago who was an alcoholic after the war, and he said they spent months in the trenches. And he said he came across this little boy hiding in a crate that was scared to death when him and a few others found him. None of them said a word, and carried on. He said that bothered him a lot.

  • @Leyenda1 - He never would mention it on his own, and I would have to pester him pretty hard to to get him to talk even briefly about it. Any response usually was self-effacing. His Bronze Star was for going out during mortar bombardments 10 times to give aid to and, in some cases drag back, men. He was "just doing what he had been trained to do, and had trained others to do." Semper Fi, indeed! (Cool that he was chosen for the thumbnail of this video.)

  • Japs were our allies in ww1

  • really????? ididn't know that...WAS THAT REAL!?!?!? man lol

  • Yes...

  • @NormbrettaMod Officially yes, but they made it a point to do very little fighting.

  • At the end of the trailer, the marine wearing glasses, blinking, and with a hand on his shoulder, is my father, PhM2/C (at the time) Wilbur Dekker, USNR, 4th Eng Battln, 4th Mar Div. He is monitoring an IV while treating a wounded marine.

  • If he is still with us give him a big Semper Fi ! from those who fight to carry their legasey so they sacrifice will not be forgotten.

  • @wj8f My grandfather was apolish jew who escaped on the last train out of paris. And I have an enourmous amount of respect to those that were able to stop the nazis.

  • @wj8f I envy you. My father was on Iwo , just a corporal/ radioman. I look at every Pacific clip with hopes to see him. He died in 1976, and was never the same after his experience.

  • @wj8f tell him he has my respect.

  • @wj8f Did the ol' man every talk about his experiences?

  • That's gotta be a joke. War isn't video games, movies, and GI Joe crap.

  • How old are you?

  • Good... is that supposed to impress someone? Obviously you have never been there and if you get the chance to experience it you'll be changing your underwear (diaper?) real fast. Better yet, go to your local butcher and get 500 lbs of guts and let it sit in the sun for two days, then add 2 gals fresh blood, start a diesel fire upwind of you, throw half the guts on it then crawl around in the rest. Add deafening noise/screaming and you won't even come close to the horror of war. Dipshit!

  • Go to Iraq...just bring your umbrella and tuna sandwich...you'll love it

  • @mikess I'd bring my flying carpet and watch the action from above.

  • Only useless fags bring there magic carpet to watch the action from above.

  • @mikess I have crates of dynamite that I drop from above

  • Oh, yes, we should have allowed the extremists to obliterate more buildings after 9/11, we should have left the British, French, and Russians fend for themselves in WWI. Gee, what were we thinking? fighting to protect freedom? OUTRAGEOUS.

  • Please do some research. WW1 had nothing to do with protecting freedom. 911 was a criminal act perpetrated by saudi nationals, so why did we violate international law as well as our own constitution by engaging in an illegal war of aggression?Again it has very little to do with freedom, Isuppose you believe our i nvolvement in southeast asia was fighting for freedom as well.
