I just said Boomslang means tree snake. The word Boomslang came into use in the 18th century, way after the dutch held dominion over Souther Africa.

Well Afrikaans originates from Dutch, and they've been living in Africa for almost 500 years now.

It's obvious the name of the snake is Afrikaans/South African, even the name Green Mamba is South African, Mamba comes from Zulu- Zulus are a Southern African tribe.

Columbus was Spanish anyway.

I have a question for whoever knows the answer. I have two male Senegal Chameleons who live in the same cage together. (I found out they prefer their own space after I had already purchased them). Anyway, they sleep on top of each other at night and seem to get along quite well. Is this just an unusual characteristic trait that isnt very common, or is there something more to it? They never fight each other or change colors when around each other. Does anyone know why they 2 males get along?

I remember back in 1989-1990, when everyone assumed boomslangs were harmless, but then it was discovered that the venom is VERY delayed. You dont notice anything for like.. hours, to a couple days. Then all of a sudden you drop dead. XD On the plus side, that makes this one of the easier snakebites to treat, since it takes so long to take effect.

@jellyreptiles Well thats the silliest comment i've seen in a while. The majority of chameleons kept these days (especially the most common ones) are captive bred. Meaning there are, and will be chameleons in the wild, no matter how many people have them as pets. Therefore, boomslangs will still be able to eat them. Boomslangs need to eat too remember ;)
