The purpose of the water is to make the baby feel like it's still inside of them mom for a little bit longer. It's also easier to clean them off if your already in water. lol I'm 15 and I knew that.
I don't understand hitting the baby! I'm a midwife and I've never hit one like that. That baby was breathing just fine...all it needed was wrapped and held.

When the baby is born and comes out of the vagina it is actually much safer to be born into water. The baby has lived in water for the past 40 weeks, it'd be more comfortable in water. It would assume it never left the womb. Educate yourself before you make "stupid" comments.

The whole thing only took 10 minutes, but we knew it would be fast because of our prior births. This is our 6th child and God keeps letting the labor get shorter and shorter. Our first was born in 4 hours. Our second was born on the kitchen floor! Too bad there's not video of that!
