Nice to know that things haven't changed that much in 125 years! Trustees, school boards and parents (and sometimes even the kids) are still telling teachers what, when and how to teach! Most of these people have never stood in front of a classroom!!

Do parents listen? No. Do governments put an agenda on teachers and students? Yes. Back in my dads days if he did poorly in school the teacher would call his father and he would give him SERIOUS shit, and maybe a slap. How many kids go to school these days with their pants hanging halfway down their asses? And this is normal? Maybe parents should do more and maybe the government shouldn't always involve itself in family affairs. No personal offence was meant here.

I see even back in 1885 school trustees knew their role: making teachers suffer for the smallest, most reasonable requests, like a good education. I coulda shot that guy right there! They say that there is one teacher driven completely out of her mind for every mile around that schoolhouse. That's what they say.
