  • I think we should all just agree on i being awesome! :D

  • This would win a Steampunk costume contest! Having been in several, the functioning lighting would throw it over the top.

  • Cyberpunk. Really, fucking awesome cyberpunk. I don't even like cyberpunk. But this.

  • they should have used that for the SAW movies lol

  • Seems more Cyberpunk (Or even tesla.) But it looks like the makings of a Dieselpunk villain...

  • TESLAdieslecyberpunk

  • 100% cyber!

  • JENOVA

  • that is so cool, that should totally be used in a horror movie of some sort.

  • should so be a doctor who monster or alien cult or something.

  • i dont care if its steampunk or not. its cool!!

  • Sorry, not steampunk. Steampunk rarely deals with rubber tubing or electrical discharge. Too new.

  • @herzogwhatley Maybe I should put the title in inverted commas ;0) See previous comments anyway for the steampunk/not steampunk debate.

  • @thedarkpower its cyberpunk XC

  • @XionixZTV A 17th century venetian mask is cyberpunk is it? ;0)

  • @thedarkpower

its not the mask that makes it cyberpunk or steampunk its the attachments, and color schemes. anywho very interesting mask any how. it is closer to cyberpunk imo.

  • @herzogwhatley

It rarely does, but cyberpunk rarely deals with venetian masks and brass elements(the lights). To me it's a hybrid. Cyberpunk gone steampunk. Steampunk costume ball in cyberpunk universe?

  • Thou shalt not resist, for it is futile! :)

  • Hail for the steampunk Darcia-sama!

  • have you ever seen doctor who with the clock work robots

  • @SirSomthing Hi - no I don;t really watch doctor who, at least not the new ones ;0)

  • that seems more cyber punk then steam punk but it is cool

  • @ReynOnLife Bit of a mix of both I guess. Cheers!

  • But thats not steampunk.

    more like industrial goth

  • @novoneiro Please previous comments on the 'is it steampunk' debate. It's more a variation on a theme I'd say.

  • one person doesn't like awesomeness.

  • @mowmowmuffinz They probably think it's not steampunk ;0)

  • @mowmowmuffinz PS Cheers! ;0)

  • The best I've seen in a while

  • @Aavon2RiPlay Thanks very much! ;0)

  • @8isthemagicnumber Er..eh?

  • @thedarkpower TORTORIAL ON HOW TO MAKE IT!

  • @8isthemagicnumber Ah gotcha! Tutorial. I've updated the video description with links to my blog and website which has some making of / process pictures.

  • Dreadlocks Yes!!

  • @YourAverageJoeDavis Very kind, cheers!

  • inspiring.

  • @lorekbrighton Thanks you're very kind :)

  • HOLY SHIZ DUDE THATS AWESOME :D

  • Teach me how to make a mask like THAT!!

  • @MrDleon89 Check out my blog dude - if you check the steampunk tag or search for 'to my mother and father' there'll be some info - it won't let me post a link here.

  • holy shit, nice !!

  • @DragoxPL Thanks!

  • @thedarkpower how you create that ._.? and what ya use program to give thats lighting?

  • @DragoxPL Program? Those are real lights.

  • @thedarkpower awesome *.*

  • That's awesome. You should wear a balaclava to cover your hair with it.

  • KICK ASS!

  • @wwebtime Thanks!

  • I really REALLY love the mask! Where can you get one of those masks?

  • @alitllebitemo I made it myself so they're not really available ;0)

  • @thedarkpower I see! Well it was totally awesome!

  • Jonova???

  • @DarknessChronos A couple of people have mentioned that - is it a character from a novel? Unfortunately I've never read the book.

  • @thedarkpower final fantasy 7 actually.

  • @thedarkpower It's from Final Fantasy 7. There are similarities to Janova this is true. Although I like yours better. Any thoughts of making a wire neck piece to go along with the mask?

  • @Derzza @DarknessChronos Ah gotcha, never played Final Fantasy unfortunately. How would a wire neck piece work?

  • @thedarkpower I"m thinking some kind of latex mold, where you've inlaid some wiring vertically from the chest to the head. Of course it would probably be a bit more difficult than what it is in my head.

  • reminds me of something that band Slipknot would wear (no I don't listen to that band)

  • Call it like you want, it is just amazing

  • looks like a borg... awesome costume!

  • I think it looks cyberpunk because the "hair" is made of wires and all of the electricity.

  • @Dingpoodle Yeah they're certainly more towards cyber punk than the other elements, however they did have electricity in the 1800's so it's not like including electricity means it's not steampunk.

As I've mentioned it is a mishmash of styles, I should say that this piece is actually in an exhibition of steampunk art at the minute so I think it's close enough ;0)

  • That's Cyber punk, please look up the difference. kind of annoying for people who are trying to look through certain Videos. I mean yeah cool, props but not what I was looking for :p

  • @QueenReeRee Wow sorry to have inconvenienced you - those precious seconds you've lost will never be regained unfortunately.

For the record I'm aware perhaps it's not 100% steampunk but a 17th century mask isn't exactly 'cyber' now is it? This is a deliberate mishmash of styles.

  • @thedarkpower Don't let the naysayers affect you. Steampunk does not have distinct limits. So much of it's appeal is the fusion of styles. This definitely has the steampunk feel to it with the brass and gears. It could be dressed up to be more or less steampunk depending on the other elements of the costume. If you wore a skin tight leotard, it would less steampunk than if you added a 19th century period costume. It's absolutely brilliant--and spooky as hell.

  • @laraesque Hey thanks for the comment, you're quite right. I'm always amazed at how many people think they know exactly what steampunk is!

    Thanks for the support ;0)

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD.

    AMAZING.

    CREEPY

    BRILLIANT!

    fuckin' love it man!

  • @CLARKwahlberg Thanks!

  • it's awesome but I think it's more cyber-punk than steam-punk.

  • @Overyde Thanks - yeah abit of a mix I guess.

  • Whoa...

I agree: creepy, cool, beautiful in a creepy cool fashion.

    Well done.

Mine may be similar, but my face will be Special makeup effects integrated...

  • @JemmetGK Cool - sounds interesting. I had thought to do some kind of makeup to have under the mask - abit phantom of the opera - didn't quite get round to it though.

  • creepy cool!

  • dude love it can i buy one if so let me know

  • @KKKris187 Thanks - well I don't manufacture these, it's a one off and is current;y in an exhibition so not available for sale I'm afraid.

  • the borg's ansester

  • you should do a how to tutorial(?) :D

  • Awesome! And yes it is steampunk. Electricity was around in victorian era. Mad scientists had their Tesla coils and Edison. No worries, mate. "Teslapunk" falls under the Steampunk genre.

  • This is Amazing!! yet, it isn't really steampunk, as its powere by electricity not steam... have a look at 'teslapunk' its exactly this, Fantastic still!!

  • I'd use steel braided hoses....geat "Mask" though..

  • @d3tach3d Cheers dude - yeah that woulda been quite expensive though - plastic much cheaper ;0)

  • @thedarkpower Yeah, your right. Great Work!

  • the predator of the opra lol

  • @ghillieguy52 Haha, yes - I like - definitely had predator in mind when making this ;0)

  • that looks freakin awesome

  • very sick! thumbs up!!

  • YOu look like one of the twins from the matrix reloaded. Oh and get some eye shadow that makes it more sinister.

  • Thats deadly

  • very nice

  • Pretty cool i like it!
