  • I just love the cult classics

  • I love it when the keyboard starts going off at 0:40 second mark.

  • This was just like The Sopranos.

  • kimberly russell is hotter than robin givens. i don't see what mike tyson see in her, anyone agree

  • I really like this theme song. it sucked in later years when they played the first 10 seconds then went to more merllowmusic during the opening. they should've done what they did in syndication & played the short version

  • @Disneydanny

It starts out medieval-sounding with the harpsichord and orchestral strings, then 20 seconds later goes to electric guitar, synths and synth drums.

  • i miss the 80's too

  • damn i miss the 80's !!!!

  • Wish this would come out on DVD.

  • maybe now dan schneider has enough money to get his fat ass in a gym the dudes still huge

  • Who's idea was to make Dr. Johnny Fever as a high school teacher ?

  • don't know but it was a great choice!

  • dan schneider went on to create a lot of shows for nickelodeon - all that, kenan & kel, the amanda show, etc, etc, that dude is a gagillionaire.

  • the little nerd girl is hot!!

  • LOL...and I thought I was the only one who liked her.

  • that fat kid is none other than Ricky from Better Off Dead. "it is not wise to upset mother."

  • My favorite character was (and will always be) Simone Foster, who I always thought was the prettiest girl in the class. She's still beautiful to me.

  • the only thing i rember from this show is the fat guy that sat in the back at the computer. funny shit

  • Wow, a show that actually glorified being smart.

Such a show would never be created today. It just proves how much American culture has decline in 20 years.

  • Thank you for this brilliant comment, you've articulated so well exactly what I was thinking.

  • Being smart is glorified more now than it was 20 years ago. Look at old shows like Family Matters and Saved by the Bell - Urkel and Screech were considered nerds and they were smart. Zach, Slater, Eddie Winslow were the cool guys who got bad grades.

Nowaways, even on promiscuous shows like Gossip Girl, or 90210, the cool guys get good grades. Being smart is considered cool now - so in my opinion you have it backwards.

  • @kmg4 we had Frasier

  • @kmg4 It's called Big Bang Theory?

  • is this show on DVD yet? I hope it scomes out soon (all 5 seasons) I especially like the episode where Alex lied about having sex with Simone.

  • How was Dennis Blunden allowed sole access to the lone PC in the classroom? I'd have forklifted his fat ass out of the way so I could play some "Leisure Suit Larry" in all its 8-bit glory.

  • i thought it was so cool that the fat guy just sat on a desk and played with a computer

  • robin givens!

  • tHIS WAS A great show!

    Great job! Thanks for uploading!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! All the best in 1009 and beyond! Puerto Rican Love from NYC!

    A++++++++

  • 2009

  • Eustis/Elias didn't even try to downplay the fact that Miss Meara was hot for any meaty Howard Hesseman mancawk.

  • This show was SO awesome. What kind of world do we live in where drek like "Saved by the Bell" ends up on Greatest Show Ever lists all the time, but this show is forgotten, rarely aired in reruns and (often in the online stuff I've read) referred to as a really "stupid" show? Hello??

Anyway, thanks for posting the theme!

  • Aren't Dan "Dennis" Schneider and Brian "Eric" Robbins two of the men responsible for so many kid's shows on Nickelodeon? (Dan Schneider Productions-Drake and Josh, etc. and Tolin/Robbins Productions-All That, Keenan and Kel, The Amanda Show, etc.) If so, how great it is to see how they got there and no wonder they were able to get Dan "Arvid" Frischman!

  • UNA BUENA EPOCA Y UNA BUENA CANCIÓN

  • they don't make good shows like this anymore.

  • This Show rocked,it'd be so cool to have Johnny Fever as your Teacher.

  • head up your ass

  • dan schiender, brian robbins and dan frischman were in show which is ironic because dan schiender, dan frischman and brian robbin would soon work for nickelodeon

  • it's not ironic,rather it is a coinscidence.

  • michael delorenzo only fitting he did ny undercover, he grew up in the bronx, the teacher howard hesseman is where im from oregon.

  • this show is the shit, head of the class. arvid got some pussy from miss meara, well maybe, but its cool seeing nerds getting beaver.

  • That's tight. I'm from oregon too but I didn't know that.

  • ah the roosevelt island tramway :p

  • "How can you not have a hit show with Howard onboard"

  • New York looked cooler back then

  • ya! where subway stations have thick smoke pouring out of 'em and kids randomly breakdance on the sidewalk when someone squirts a water hose at 'em! :D

  • Hell fukin yeah

  • When the kid does the summersault, the theme really starts to rock.Classic theme!

  • I love the part when the kid summersaults,I used to summersault immitating him.

  • it's more of a cartwheel :D but if you watch closely he just flops over .. i give him a 3 for his landing technique :p

  • Man I used to love this, and the theme song.I think Howard Hesseman is the bomb!I didn't care for Billy Connelly.

  • I agree,Howard is better than Billy.

  • Man, I wish school was that cool.

  • man i loved this show as a kid....awesome stuff man

  • This was arguably one of the best written comedy shows for teens.

Combine that with a great ensemble cast and you have a show that is a classic.

  • NYC was cool in the 80s

  • It's kind of ironic that this show is the reverse of what "Welcome Back, Kotter" (also ABC and was also situated in NYC as well) was. On Kotter, the students were more of underachievers and rebellious tyrants. On "Head of the Class," the students are more of the overachievers and somewhat more balanced.

  • i grew up in nyc watching this show as a kid thinking that when i went to high school it would be the same for me. i went to a HS for advanced students and my four years were nothing like that show.

  • the opening sequence rocked...it made NYC look cool

  • That is true it did make NYC "look" cool. Sadly Boston is the cool city with the cool accent! Bostonians are wicked pissers (look that up in your book of slang). GO SOX!

  • This was such an awesome show. They don't make 'em like this anymore...

  • Agree

  • One of the reasons why ABC dominated the 80's

  • I wish they would put this show on DVD already. It was one of my favorite shows when I was younger.

  • Until then they have quite a few episodes on AOL's In2TV.

  • This brings back memories! OMG!

  • lol i remember that kid playing in the water

  • My mom has a few of these episodes on tape and I LOVE watching them!

  • I think Eric (Brian Robbins) is pretty hot. Loved this show!

  • Eric (Brian Robbins) now directs and produces movies such as Varsity Blues, Hardball, and Norbit.

  • I wonder what happened to most of the actors from this show?

  • Dan schnieder (dennis) created tv shows like the Amanda show and Drake and Josh

  • In my eyes, Howard is forever Dr. Johnny Fever. Long live the doctor, babies. Bugger!

  • was leah remini in there

  • I forgot the what the intro was and it brings back memories. I miss the Johnny Fever mustache. Hate that Howard shaved it. Didn't the replace Howard near the end of the series?

  • Mooky: Howard Hesseman chose to leave the series after four years. For the fifth and final season, Billy Connolly taught the class. Hope that helps. :)

Lurrz: Thanks for posting this. Sure brings back memories. Krystyne Haje (the redhead) remains the love of my life!

  • @mooky9669 He had a mustache later on in this series.

  • I loved this show. It changed time slots more than once in the UK but fondly remember watching it at 15.00 when i got home from school. First time I've heard that tune in about 15 years. Thank You!

  • It's amazing how you can go 15 years without seeing something yet, the moment you see it again for the first time, know everything that about to happen about two seconds before it takes place. That's how this intro was for me. Thanks for posting!

  • Great show...

  • Yeah dude, how come they never did an after-school special featuring the cast of 21 Jump Sterrt? LMAO!

  • *street

  • Wow thanks, I miss this show...and those days.

  • God, that show sucked and I LOVED IT!!! The "Awesome '80s" freakin' ruled, man!; suspend belief in reality: If they were SO smart, why did it take them 5 years to finish high school???

  • Word that. Especially the episode where that young chick was all like haaaaaaaay, I see poltergeists! And shit starts flying around the room and I'm like, omg it's like Ghostbusters and Head of the Class had a beautiful baby together.

  • >>>>>>>>"God, that show sucked..."

*swiftly dismembers mercyreef for saying the above evil, untrue and unnecessary statement in 2006 when he/she knows full well that he/she's not supposed to say, think, feel and believe both in 2006 and any other time*

That show did NOT suck but you suck, you uneducated, senseless puke drinker! That show ruled and it always will!

  • that is so true mate :D and yeah it was so great because precisely it was so lame. hail to the whiz kids !!

  • @mercyreef I believe their 4th season was supposed to be 1st semester of 12th grade and the 5th season was supposed to be the 2nd semester of 12th grade. Granted, none of them looked 14 or 15 when the series began, except the girl that played Janice, but she was like 10.

  • I LOVED this show. If it was on DVD, I would purchase it without hesitation. This intro rocks! Despite it only being 1 minute long, it really shows the personality of Mr. Moore aka Howard Hesseman. He was a very unorthodox educator but was successful thanks to his wit and charm. HOTC rules!

  • it DOES rule! of course i enjoyed the early seasons more, but I didn't even mind when that scottish dude took over. the theme is really great and a few years ago i was able to find a full three minute rendition of it which now lives on my iPod so i can rock out to it on the bus. i'm sure it will make its way onto DVD eventually. *crosses fingers*
