We have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 (1%) API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs/Injection and tank clean and rustfree!
Use 1:100 (1%) two stroke oil in your tank to prevent tank and engine corrosion if you use the modern aggressive fuel that contain 5-10% methanol (not good for the old engine and fuel system materials!)
so you're saying that when the engine is cold and dry, and when the oil is at it's maximum thickness, and therefore maximum uselessness, rev it to 4000 rpm to get the oil flowing? can i just say that when the engine is running, so is the oil pump. so if it's idling, oil is being pumped through the engine like it should, and the friction, even at 800 rpm, is enough to warm up the oil enough to reach it's correct lubricating density, and allows it to do it's job...without welding your pistons...
hay man. What is your engine number. It looks the same as mine and I am having trouble finding things out about it mine is AS68....... Do you know the timing angle and spark plugs you know stuff like that
Kadrons are great, easy to tune it appears. Most if not all setups with Kadrons sound responsive and rev easily, though they might lack cold start compensation.
mine's original and sounds soooo mcuh better!!! just saying! but i used to have that problem where he didnt wanna stay running but nw he's good

superb sound, idle should be increased by only 1 cm perhaps. very good engine, looks and sounds very responsive. Lucky you are. :)

every time you start it, immediately rev it up to 4000. That will get the oil flowing.

way too low idle, eh?
27FreakDS 2 years ago 11
@27FreakDS thats a good engine when will idle that slow, an engine showing signs of wear or getting low on compression would stall at that speed
david197407 1 year ago
sure under 1000 rpm

What carbs are you using?
Bladeserpent 3 years ago
I use the Weber carbs Type 40 IDF
Bluebeetlecab 3 years ago
The shaking will be normal at first start because the carbs don't have a choke and don't have preheat tubes to warm it up quicker

shouldnt you bolt the engine to the chassis? that thing shakes more then a 500cu V8

It's probably shaking because it needs new transmission mounts.
