it makes u & your bank account HAPPY. Then your scripts must be shit. As a writer there's 3 things your doing it for. Money. Fame. Or You have something to SAY. If your in it for the financial rewards than good luck. If you have something to say & go into writing your spec with that attitude/notion than that's an excellent start to crafting a great screenplay. Getting blinding by the idea of selling your material will result in a poor, unpolished piece of work

It's okay to spend a year or more on a script. For starters this shows you actually care what you are writing about and are willing to put in the effort to make it into great movie.
