And whilst he did this tune with Schofield, Mayer has absorbed and transcribed fully so many jazz records that its not that big a leap to think he came up with it himself, he seems big on substitutions (like on Crossroads he has talked about how he replaced the V with a vi for a more "modern" blues feel).
