Last night, I did "The Immortal Memory" at a Burns Night in Canada's Highlands. People said I was great - but this heaven on earth would have been greatly blessed by the voice of such an angel.
Hello Holly, like another, in you well deserved comments,I too came upon you whilst trying to learn this beautiful song for Burns night. You and the musicians surrounding have done a great credit to this spell binding melody&lyric. Your voice is so very rounded,unaffected and beautiful.

I love all the experts that suddenly appear just to critise on youtube (you know who you are, please send us the link to your version Neil!). Half the fun of music is that you can adapt and change it to see what happens. I think that bard would have approved of Hollys version.
she put her heart into the song. that's what makes it moving and beautiful. otherwise it's just math. I listened to it at least 4 times just now. love it !!!
Too slow - the rhythm gets lost. The phrasing is choppy because the breathing is in the wrong places. You never feel the flow of a classic melody. Also, the traditional tune is in 6/8 time, but you'd never know it from this...
@neilmak I dont think so, in fact this is the only version I think really works that Ive heard. Its a pensive, reflective song not meant to be quick or manic. But thats just my opinion . I think Holly Thomas's will be the definitive version someday, I cannot get enough of her voice.
