I think I can explain it...well in this version are dwarfs something like inventors. They made a mirror which was telling just the truth. One of the dwarfs disguised himself like a human - knight in armor -and he was supposed to give this mirror to the king. But king wasn't in the castle (he was in war or something) so it was evil queen who get the mirror. She used it just for one question (you know what).

Meanwhile, princess Snow White and jester fell in love.

...Jester was actually the prince in disguise (He disguised himself in order to know life and get experiences). When Snow White was with dwarfs, they warned her before queen and they made mechanical figures to make learning easier - Snow White was trying to know better queen's face, gestures and speech - dwarfs knew that queen will be in disguise if she will try to hurt Snow White.

In the end, Snow White is kind of melancholic, because when she was with dwarfs she thought back about jester/prince and all she had was just that mechanical figure, so she could just see his face...

I love Disney too, but if your going to criticizes this movie version for changing the story, then the same can be said for all other Disney movies. All the original story's are much darker, and some depressing, lots of people change the original story to make it more suitable for children.

Well, actually, in the original version of Snow White, the prince just decides to take Snow White's body back with him to his castle, and while they're on his horse, the ride is bumpy so the apple is dislodged from her throat. Not quite so romantic when the prince just decides to take a dead girl back with him to his castle to do who knows what...

This is the German version of Snow White... the actress playing Snow White is Natalie Minko, and the Prince (he's a Prince, but he pretend to be a minstrel only to accumulate experience to become a good King) is played by Alessandro Gassman, a famous italian actor... actually this is an italian-german coproduction... it's really a beautiful movie, and it's available on German DVD and Japanese DVD (this one with english audio track)

She flips out when she sees the 'body' (of the knight who programmed the mirror who was actually a dwarf in disguised) and makes the mirror explode, leaving her with nothing. (It also destroys her beauty)
