  • you know i think it's so weird that when people talk about eating disorders they always talk about bulimia or anorexia but binge eating is a eating disorder too and people forgett about it.more people suffer from binge eating than from anorexia or bulimia and it makes you really depressed as well and just because it's not so fascinating for others doesn't mean we should ignore it.yeah you need disipline and self control for anorexia and you have to purge for bulimia but binge eating is fatal too

  • some people who are under weight with ana/mia may only be suffering for a week or so because they may have been under weight or close to under weight already. NEVER DETEMINE THE SERVERITY OF AN ED ON THE WEIGHT OF THE PERSON!

  • This video makes me feel so much better. I know thats a odd thing to say, but it is much better to see people talking about it. I have been so confused since i was 11 - but i still wouldn't class myself as anorexic as i have a normal weight,i suppose this video helped with that as you explained that it is in a mental mindset. As you said, anorexia is a very quiet subject, that needs to stop, it is just getting worse. Thankyou for posting this video, im sure it has helped a lot of people. xx

  • This video, truely Amazing.. &Very True.

  • wonderful video. I had bulimia for two years, never even coming close to being underweight... so I relate. and I, too took it out on myself.

I was painfully out of control, never told anyone about it, and I'm so thankful that I've been able to slowly recovery on my own by watching videos like yours on youtube.

much love, and I hope your recovery goes well too

    xx

  • @SpringtimeRosePetals aww thank you for your words they mean a lot. . . and can i say WELL DONE for recovering alone . . its so hard and having been gripped by ED i understadn the mental strength required to get out, so your really inspiring!

your support is invaluable <3 xx

  • k, the only problem I have with this is at 1:12 where she says that eating disorders are "lifestyle choices." WRONG! We dont CHOOSE to do this to ourselves. It's mental illness. It's a symptom of whats REALLY wrong. Eating Disorders awareness week is NOT about lifestyle choices, but the illnesses of eating disorders. Saying they are "lifestyle choices" indicates that we're making the CHOICE to be sick. ABSOLUTELY NOT!

  • @TrustorBust716 aww you've got the wrong end of the stick, we were dispelling myths and she was saying that one of the myths is that ed's are lifestyle choices. . . then we went to defend us. . . WE DEFINITELY do not think they are lifestyle choices. . . hope that clears it up xxxxxx

  • @lilmover You might have to put something like a quote or something in there Jayce because supposedly it looks as if I am advocating an Eating Disorder as a lifestyle choice :S

  • @TrustorBust716 That wasn't what I said at all. Before Jaycee edited and cut it before I said that one of the myths of Eating Disorders are that they are lifestyle choices. The whole point of my speech was to dispel that myth and if you had listened to Michelle saying before me that we were changing myths and stigma then I went on to explain a myth. You completely have the wrong idea.

  • @xbornindiex well said beautiful . . dont worry about it, i dont think anybody else got that impression :-) ill put an annotation on it tmrw just to be on the safe side. . . love you millions and millions! xxxx

  • @xbornindiex You're more than welcome. I know some of the reactions I've had through doing media work haven't been the best; but keep going and keep raising awareness. Some people might not agree or might not like it; but this video has been spread round FB by my friends and so I know it's helped them and we are very pro recovery and very keen to raise awareness; keep going and keep fighting! <3 Lots of love. xx

  • @Wantstobeinvisible I think i might cry! your incredible. . thanks so much, especially for sharing the message. Y'no what? im going to treat myself to a choc bar right now! <3 <3 one step xxx

  • @lilmover LOL Jaycee I love you! Knew this was a good idea!!! :D:D:D

  • @xbornindiex the the best idea thinkerupper ever! <3 we. are. a. team!!!

  • @floridaoj1 Continue with the work that I do and try to make an impact. If we can use our experiences to help others, even if that's just one person, then I think it's worth the time and effort that goes into it. This informs people about the myths and a few of the facts, it doesn't promote eating disorders, it doesn't tell people to use the internet and not seek medical help.... The internet can do tremendous harm; but it can also work miracles.

  • @Wantstobeinvisible Thank you so much sweetheart - completlly agree with everything you said, such fantastic words, you are very kind! <3

  • @floridaoj1 Of that support. The wonderful people who made this video could possibly have had years of treatment, we don't know how far into recovery they are and we don't know what type of professional support they are currently recieving. I think they are very, VERY brave to have created this video. I do work with the media and an eating disorder charity and some people feel I should hide the fact that I'm struggling with Anorexia - but if my story can give just one person hope, then I shall..

  • @floridaoj1 Your post is very worrying.... To say you've dealt with people with ED's for years isn't the nicest way of putting it to start with, but to then say that we should be discussing these issues on the internet? We should be discussing these kind of issues everywhere and at any opportunity we get! It's time for people to broaden their minds, be more understanding and compassionate. We need to squash the stigma and raise awareness. YES, people should seek support and everyone is worthy...

  • @floridaoj1 but if they have vids like ours to watch, and people to support and encourage them ( like we have each other) it might help them get there sooner! It was a video I watched on here that actually convinced me to get help and go to my doctor. And I felt able to do it because of the girls in this video (and others I've met through youtube and facebook) so I can tell you- its not pointless. Its fruitful. And it IS time to talk about it.

  • @floridaoj1 Also, staying silent wont help beat EDs. No one knows enough about them to prevent them from starting in the first place! If I'd have known more about what an ED is and more importantly the consequences- I'm quite sure I would have got help a lot sooner than I did or may have avoided the trap of bulimia all together. It often takes a sufferer years to build up the strength and courage to go to a doctor for help... cont

  • @floridaoj1 Us four girls (and many others) decided to embark on our recovery process and seeking help after we met each other throughout this YouTube community - showing that we have not made excuses to get medical help, we have supported and encouraged each other and thats the way things will stay.

I am not mad, judging by all the positive support we have received from this you may be able to see that we have positively educated and encouraged a lot of people.

  • @floridaoj1 I can understand your point. I dont think that the internet should supplement help at all, but for me for example, cant get help because im not tiny thin and so sometimes this is the only means for support for us, to be heart and understood. I think the main reason was to raise awareness amongst people without ED'S too so that people are less secretive and seek help. therfore minmizing the need for the internet. I must say i cant express how much support i have gotten through YT xx

  • @floridaoj1 Cont... We don't claim to have a cure. We are simply promoting recovery and trying to help people realise how common ED's are and how much of a problem they are. I'm sorry you weren't able to grasp that rather simple concept

  • @floridaoj1 Unfortunately you have missed the entire point of this video. 'Us girls' are good friends who have met through our journey to recovery. We are all trying to combat our ED's and we are getting 'real help'. ED's are something that NEED to be spoken about in order to break the silence and stop this being a taboo subject which makes it all the more difficult for sufferers to reach out for help. Cont...

  • @floridaoj1 And plus, we are not looking for a cure for eating disorders, so clearly you are the person in the wrong for not understanding our motives of this video. We aim to educate others who are ignorant about eating disorders. And if you are that bothered by what we have done here, why are you watching?

  • @floridaoj1 I have had years and years of counselling and am actually getting a lot better - we are all in good stages of our recovery process and wish to spread the word to others who are clearly very ignorant about Eating Disorders as a lot of people are. Don't judge us before you know anything about us - we have received so much support for getting our message out there, it is a shame people like you have to be so rude about it.

  • Lovely video for raising awareness girls, hope it gets the word out. I'll be posting the link to the video around the web. Hope that is alright!!!

  • @EnigmaticRambles Thank you so much, yes please do post around the web that would be wonderful we really want to reach as many people as possible with this.

Sending love and LOADS of thankies :-) <3

  • @EnigmaticRambles Go for it! The more people that see this the better - hopefully we can do well in educating others thanks to people like you!
