@SuperJerkyBoys you dont pick up 15 mph simply due to a downgrade. Pay attention and let off the gas. I bet if you coasted down that bridge at 55 aerodynamic drag would come into play and slow you down.
if you ask to see the speed from the dector and he can't show you the numbers when you ask., you can fight the ticket. if they pase you, its a different story.
@2204Alpha i won my case because the cop could't show me the radar reading ! Whats to prevent the cop from making up any random number after he pulls you over ? The cop admitted he erased the number on accident and could't show me the speed on the radar gun and i won my case. its that simple. Back at you kid! go jerk off to chips and your law books.

@AznPwnageFTW Yeah tan and dark blue are both standards. Believe me, the tan uniform feels like wearing a suit to school. However, the dark blue uniform feels like wearing sweat pants. Basically what I'm saying is that the dark blue uniform is a lot more comfy.

DNA Sample Processing Fee: $2.00 Very common service for traffic tickets.

Fully agree... That officer and the state would have been on the hook if he had hit someone after pulling onto the highway without the lights and siren on. IT would also be a wreckless driving charge.
@bg1379 yes and no but the bridge is very narow and there may be gustywind wich could force you off the bridge into a friged waters, in Florida on the long bridge that goes to Keywest, people have drivin off of bridge at faster speed and Drowned.
To Unknown Oconnor (Canda): The one thing I love about driving in your country is I can simply read 120km and then say "hey, I thought that sign said 120mph"!! Gotta hand those Mounties something to laugh about!
I'm not from Canada, I live in Ireland. But I was born in the US. Here, the signs display 'km/h' under the 120. We changed from mph to km/h in 2005 even though we officially went metric since 1977. When will the US go metric?
@tangypanda I hate soccer too. It's boring. I think britain is the only country in Europe that uses Miles and MPH speed limits. There is talk about them changing to metric speed limits. One problem is that with two sets of measurements, it creates trade obstacles and pushes up import/export costs. Not to mention the confusion it causes. Surely its not a patriotic issue?
usually the farthest left lane is the fast lane. All you have to do is get over there when "your not going with the flow" On side streets you shouldn't go with the flow. Always the speed limit. 25 is 25 or 30 is 30 there.
The left lane is the passing lane and people should not cruise in it. Whether you think it's ok to speed or not, it's not your place to enforce that on others. Let them take the risk of getting a ticket, but it's not very hard to not get pulled over.
Well, you know, I don't like the left lanes, and basically I go on the right lane and the average speed because of the trucks, is 50-55 mph. I really don't like going really fast in my car, you really can't react fast enough if you're going fast. That's why I go that speed. I've had a lot of close calls in my life.
ummm 65mph doesn't apply to just the left lane. What you are doing can actually cause a accident. You in most cases don't even realize it, that you are restricting the flow of traffic. On I-95 in west palm beach FL..speed limited is 65 -70mph. Actually speed is more like 85. Go with the flow, not againt. BTW, you can get in a fatal accident doing 5mph but walk completely unharmed from a 85mph collision. It's all about luck.
Yeah, "going with the flow" is the most common excuse from a ticket besides I need to use the restroom. I think not going with the flow and doing the speed limit is the way to go, and besides, people in Florida go fast anyway, I know, I've been to Jacksonville. Try Southern California, and see if you can say "go with the flow" after you had your ticket, okay? ^_^ Ciao!
The problem is that some speed limits on the Highways are too low. 55 MPH is an area where it should be 65 for the fact that this entire section is reasonably safe.
I have no clue that the speed limit is where your at. But, here if you are doing 50mph in a 70mph...people are going to get pissed and they will cut your ass off.
people here react the exact same way. Especially when it involves drivers hogging the fast lane. Here, the speed limit on a Highway is 120 km/h (75 mph). We changed to the metric system in 2005. I prefered miles/hour because km/h is more sensitive when you exceed the speed limit.
The speed limit is 55 to 70 mph depending on your area urban or rural. And in urban areas I do 55 because its pretty much impossible unless there's less traffic to go faster, because we have 2 lanes dedicated to trucks and trailers most of the time, slowing most traffic.
Most of the time if you are going with the flow, cops won't mes with you. I did get a warning for unlawful speeding. Some asshole in the hammerlane doing 45mph in a 70. I passed him and hit 89mph in no time. Cop got me and did the usual. I told him I wasn't thinking and what I did was stupid...he gave me a break :)
Purposely not 'going with the flow' causes traffic problems which lead to accidents. If the majority of traffic is going faster than you and having to pass you very often you should speed up so as not to impede traffic reduce lane changes which can cause accidents from sideswipes, people getting cut off and braking and being rear ended, people over correcting and sliding into lanes of traffic, flipping, etc... Most of the accidents I've seen happen like this.
I'm not purposely not going with the flow, I'm going in the flow of the first or second lane because those lanes I'm confortable with, the speed limit is 65, I commonly see people speeding in excess of 85, and those are the people going over the speed limit. They have to slow down to people going the speed limit, because they give people the okay to go faster too, therefore you have everyone going with the flow and breaking the speed limit. I'm not going over 2500rpm or 55mph I don't abuse mycar
If there was no speed limit, like on the autobahn, roads would most likely be safer because distances between cars would be increased and people would be paying attention to what they were doing. If there ever was an accident it would involve very few cars. You can see an example of this on youtube, there's a video of a Mercedes convertible doing something like 145mph and it slides, flips, slides to the side of the road and everyone is ok.
here is where your mistaken. if they built a freeway like that in california, people would say, oh, i can text and drive 100 +! that would result in a ton of fatal crashes. btw. i know what video ur talking about. the green benz that flips and the guy crawls out right? thats cuz german cars are built for speed and are a lot safer.
Why are you anti-speed-trap people SO bitter? Last i checked, driving even 1 mile over the speed limit is a citable offense. And, unlike other violations, speeding is a strict liability violation; it doesn't matter WHY you were speeding or the amount over the speed limit--you're still liable for breaking the law. People who have issues with this should think about taking BART or getting a bike.
Meewok, you know nothing about the fact of speeding and the risk involved. Lets say you do learn the fact that speeding contributes to accidents resulting from excessive speed. Also people who wear seat belts end up getting killed from high impact auto collision. Why don't you look at the facts and the statistics that speeding contributes to collisions. Also the other problems are the road condition.
Actually, I DO know something about the 'fact of speeding'. Specifically, I know that speeding is a STRICT LIABILITY VIOLATION (and yes, I've had enough basic law classes to know this particular fact). This is not a subjective statement--check the vehicle code, or talk to anyone who knows anything about the vehicle code in this state. My comment has nothing to do with whether speeding is safe or dangerous, only that it is DEFACTO UNLAWFUL, and may result in a ticket.
Lets put it into prospective. Speeding counts to collisions with automobiles, pedestrians and and cyclists. Speeding is not simply a faster way to get to point a to point b. Speeding also wastes gas faster.
The fact it is unlawful needs to have some sort of basis other than "because I say so". Otherwise people will debate the validity of the law and why it exists/if it makes sense to enforce, etc...
If it doesn't do anything but make the police force money, it shouldn't be a law. And if we're doing what's safest, get us some autobahns.
Speeding has nothing to do with crashes unless you physically exceed the capabilities of your car, which is 'driving too fast for conditions'. Speeding doesn't actually contribute to anything.
I also love how you can get a ticket even though the officer the majority of the time has no proof you were 'speeding'. So much for 'innocent until proven guilty'.
Especially if they're set way too low. Funny enough people who 'speed' are usually going with traffic which is safer than being a slowass. This guy is nothing but biased.
