This performer would have took the USA by storm, he is an incredibly talented fella, all so a real family man. Mickey Gee was a legend in his own right, i would rate alongside the best guitar players in the Rock World, he was known by many, and loved by all who knew him. RIP Mickey.
the second time watched this got to say he s not bad but he tries do do rockabilly, faked elvis-poses(really near) and to be sadly modern at the same time but the guitar-work is real cool
Shakin Stevens was cool and all. But you MUST hear THE BLASTERS do the original. Dave and Phil Alvin are the genuine article, and one of the lynch pin bands of the 80's west coast rockabilly revival. The 1981 album "The Blasters" has no bad cuts. It's burning hot rock. It might even change your life.
@cellanbassman for the regular studio versions of this song yes it was mickey gee along with dave edmunds stuart coleman and bj cole on steel guitar :_)
This is also a tribute to Mickey Gee (RIP) on guitar. Shaky is a timeless artist and should be more appreciated for keeping R 'n Roll alive. Thanks for posting, peace to you all.
He isn't legendary for copying Elvis!he is heavily influenced by Elvis. You only have to look at these rockabilly acts to see that dancing like that is part & parcel.
This guy,,,would you believe the number one top-selling solo male artist of the 1980's in the UK?...airbrushed from history...

I remember when I saw that German TV show called "DISCO"!
The host introduced Shaky like this:"...Call it good old rock´n´roll, when He´s gonna sing Marie Marie, That Shakin´Stevens"!!!
One of the first times SHaky performed on german TV... he were still very new to the audience at that time!
Those were the days of mystic fanatismus! ;-)
