Here are dramatic steppin images I took at last night's steppin in white party in Milwaukee. I spent most of the evening dancing, and my photography took me to the dance floor too. I wanted to bring out the movement of the dance through still images, to share that look of passion in the steppers as they dance, and the .beauty of it all. Steppin is beautiful, the people are beautiful in so many ways, and what the dancers create is a work of beauty!
I put a lot of hours into it, and my heart was there in it, loving the music, loving the people, loving the dance! My hope is that as you see the gestures and movements in these pictures, you can sense the love for the music that the steppers are feeling, and share the magic of steppin!
Caravan of Love -- I love the song, it brings together steppin and a love for Africa, "to the Motherland...the place where mankind is so neglected and torn..." To me it brings it all together, a love for the whole people, all the Diaspora and all those still in the Motherland. I love the message of the lyrics and it's still a good steppin song.
