This is excellent! I saw another video of this, but it wasn't well taped or recorded. Whoever did this....thanks. I love David Sanborn too. He da man!! Yes, Hiram was great. The day he died, I went to the hospital for fractures in my left ankles.
Every time I hear this, I wanna go BACK TO CHI-TOWN! This definitely has that Chicago flavour to it! Whoever has yet to visit Chi, YOU'RE GONNA FRICKIN' LOVE IT! That's all I can tell ya!
I actually dont like the twitching/fast replays in this video; made me think something was wrong with my computer, but I heard this on TV and I JUST HAD TO HEAR IT AGAIN. GREAT JAM!! I LOVE JAZZ!!!
to critisise its very easy thing....to play good needs work years and years....useually people who talk to much they dont to many things but serius people they never talk about things they cant reach....so better practice to play some notes than say stupid things about legends like them.......

@igotalovestoned Hey Idiot, don't you realize by saying it is the "baddest jam", I am actually giving it the highest compliment....??!!!! Vis-a-Vis "greatest song" What century were your born in anyway?
Ok we've established you have a wide and varied curse word vocabulary, now let's focus on the heart of the matter... WE BOTH AGREE THIS SONG IS THE BEST!!!! Why is so hard for you to realize. If you want to keep hatin', be my guest. I have no more time to waste on you. Oh BTW, you did not capitalize "Bitch" and "I" nor the proper noun "David" in your last sentence. just an FYI.

Fortunately I was willing to endure the first minute an a half...it was garbage! I was sitting here thinking "I'm from Chicago and this garbage ain't the Chicago song"
i read your post a few weeks ago. i checked on the internet immediately to see what david had died of. i found out that he is alive. he has a recent concert video on youtube as recent as last year.
Dammmmmmmnnnnn!!!! David Sanborn is jammin' as always! I saw him back in Bath,Ohio (between Akron & Cleveland) in 1982 @ Blossom Music Center outdoors. Al Jareau opened up for him.
He is an inspiration to all sax players. As you said, no one sounds like him... His sound is the most unique sound ive ever heard. He's just the best of funk.
David Sanborn was at his best in the 80's and early 90's when contemporary jazz and instrumental fusion music were also peaking in a variety of musical landscapes. The incredible Hiram Bullock is clearly one of the best guitar masters around. Chicago Song represents the best of Mr. Sanborn. Great vid.
David is my favorite too, but I'd like to hear him do more of this kind of fusion like he did back in the 80s. Granted, times do change, but for me, this was him at his best.
David Sanborn is simply one of my favorite artists of any category- top 5. I saw him live in 2005 and, live, he hits on all cylinders just like this video. This is classic contemporary jazz- for better or worse depending on who you ask. But to me, Sanborn's appeal is the fact that he isn't contemporary assembly line pop jazz. His scope and depth are beyond his contemporaries, and he has a tight band. Great video.
Happy Birthday!

David Sanborn is one of a kind. The greatest sax player ever. He ruled the 70's & 80's.
Sorry his career was short lived. If there was
an all time greatest jazz band, he's my sax player. An unforgettable talent, no one sounds like him.

why do you say his career is short lived? He still plays music and it looks like he still has his same band members on the recent vids i have seen.
