  • They most likely chose to change ducats to pounds to agree with the time period they set their production in. The Stratford Shakes. Fest. is in Ontario which is in CANADA, and they know a thing or two about the Bard. And ...who can claim to know Shakespeare truly with out attempting him first.

  • Oh you Americans! You do not understand the history of British currency. Don John did not pay Borachio "1000 Pounds" but rather "1000 Ducats". Please do not attempt Shakespeare until you know it truely. :P
