@blackhat2005 are u saying they dont have a section in a cemetery for cremated people in ur country ive heard they bury people vertically in japan not sure if this is true, but it makes more sense to be cremated if u ask me
The wild flowers around the graves are called "Lycoris radiata , or Spider Lily" its my favorite flower! It sometimes grows around a huge tree that I have in my front yard! They are native to eastern and southern Asia . They also have an interesting legend behind them!
According to Wikipedia....
Since the flowers usually bloom near cemeteries, they are decribed in Chinese and Japanese Lotus Sutra as ominous flowers that grow in Diyu (Hell), and guied the dead into the next reincarnation.
there's an old red army soldiers grave in my town. i always think that it's nice that people take care of those graves in spite of the fact the red army came to take over my country. i think it says something about the people living here.
Kurt are there problems with teenagers in Japan knocking over gravestones for kicks (to your knowlege). I know this is has been a problem in America in the past.
also I must say, watching your videos beats the hell out of studying for finals =)
I agree with you at the end about how we end up becoming nothing to the World after death. Interesting video. This looks nothing like a cemetery in the US.
Great vid Kurt! I love the old grave stones, really gives you a glimpse into the past. One of my favorite things about Japan is it's history, it's nice to see that it can still be found in everyday places! (Not that a cemetery is an everyday place lol) Thanks again for another wonderful video! -Matt
I love going through old cemeteries and I really enjoy watching this video and seeing how different the stones and customs for honoring the dead are.

Is it true that many Japanese cremate their dead?
Why is there a cemetery if they cremate their dead?
blackhat2005 1 year ago
@blackhat2005 well its not like its a law forcing you to cremate the dead if can have a normal burial if you choose

Cool... anyway Kurt I always wanted to know why Japan write in colums than in rows like most of the world?
UnsolvedMysteries12 1 year ago
@UnsolvedMysteries12 better question is why do the rest write horizontally?
I believe they started writing vertically because they used bamboos as a paper, making it difficult to type in rows.
